Not this time. I think the athletes will have plenty of security but I’m not confident of their ability to protect all the visitors.

I wouldn’t be detered due to the terrorist attacks if I’d alredy planned on going.  I think that there is a lot of fear mongering in the media when it comes to those things.  There are dangers all around us and being caught in a terrorist attach is very unlikely.

But I’d be unlikely to travel for the games in general.  They were held in my city a few years ago so I feel like I’ve had the experience.  Must nicer to be a local than a tourist with all that crazy happening!

Which Olympics? The WInter Games in Sochi or Rio 2016?

Not that I’m planning to go to either. We had the best time ever at the London Olympics in 2012. We’re only 50 miles from London and really loved our visits to the Olympic Park and other venues. So I feel pretty spoilt for Olympics right now!

Got to say that there’s a whole lot of reasons why I’d stay away from these Winter Games though. Starting with the homophobic culture that Putin has encouraged in Russia.

Depends where.  Not the upcoming Olympics.  Travel to quite a few places is limited based on recommendations due to health issues I have.

I would have no interest in going. I’m Russian though, so I’m not too worried about going to Russia (given I do every year…usually multiple times per year). I dislike crowds and most sports, so it wouldn’t be a fun time for me.

Isn’t Sochi one of the warmer cities in Russia? I heard they had to makes TONS of snow(it doesn’t actually snow there) to ensure the conditions would be up to par.  I feel like something was a bit fishy when they picked it for the Winter Olympics.

@Lbward6:  It’s quite a warm city. The average temperature during the winter doesn’t even dip below freezing, according to Wikipedia.

I would, if someone gave me free tickets/transportation!

You can’t live in fear.
