I was thinking of those times on shows like Good Morning America where they let people vote on the couple and then all the viewers get to vote on every aspect of their wedding (dress to rings to venue and everything else, including their honeymoon location). On the plus side your entire wedding is paid for. On the downside you don’t have a say in any of it.

Hmmmmmm… If they paid everything I might let them lol!
Except if it was something ultra tacky or something.

@renwoman: If it means that my entire wedding is paid for, then yes, I guess I probably would. Even if the viewers vote for ridiculous things that we would never choose ourselves, at least it would be a story to tell the grandkids!

Nope nope nope.
I am too much of a control freak. I’d rather scrimp and save and get exactly what my FI and I want instead of leaving it up to chance.

No, because it’s what OTHERS want. It wouldn’t reflect who FI and I are. I mean, we’re not going to be married to TV viewers, are we??!!
Also, it gives others a chance to advertise their products at the expense of our embarrassment. Thanks, but no thanks.

@misskittenn abbbbbsolutely agree.

No… I wouldn’t mind having strangers pick some stuff like venue, food, maybe… But dress and honeymoon would be a a HELL NO.

Oh, I missed that it included the honeymoon. In that case, no, I couldn’t do it. I don’t mind if someone else plans the wedding, but I couldn’t bear not having input on the honeymoon!

@renwoman: Forget about tv, I’d hire people in real life to set up and put on a wedding.
“Personalization” is entirely over-rated when in the end, things look pretty much the same from wedding to wedding. I would choose the venu but after that–mail me suggested colors, a menu, and wine list for approval and we are done! They can choose the cake. I would want veto power over flowers (no astromeria ever!) but if I chose a wedding floral designer whose work I liked, he/she would have free rein with the plant material we both agreed on.
I would take advice from a wedding planner of 3 photorphers, and I’d choose one based on website portfolios.
I wouldn’t have “tastings” or meetings with any of these vendors because I’d be too busy living my life.
I would want to buy a dress and show up at the wedding site ready to get married.

@Pinkmoon: I agree, I’d have to choose my dress. And the honeymoon–step back Loretta! *I* will be deciding where we go, a numbskull wedding planner would send us to some dull Caribbean resort when I’d want to go to Paris or Morroco or Bhuthan.
