MY dress is srapless...and iv been thinking...idk if a necklace would even look good. I mean i have been looking at some brides pictures and not many have necklaces.
- Will you be wearing one?
- And would you recommend a necklace for me if my dress is strapless and has detail here and there throughout the dress. And my hair will be half up half down.
I think it just depends on the dress and the look you are going for. Personally, I am not wearing one because I don't want to take away from my gown but I am wearing a little bigger, more dramatic earrings and some kind of headpiece/combs in my hair and maybe a bracelet. My dress is also strapless with a sweetheart neckline and my hair will be in a low updo.
You can never go wrong with pearls or a simple necklace if you want one. I do like it, although I would never do it personally, when a bride has a simpler gown and wears some kind of statement piece to jazz it up.
Pictures of your dress? Just be careful, you dont want to be too busy but if you want to wear one, I'm sure you can find something beautiful to compliment your gown.
I personally won't be wearing a necklace with my strapless dress.
I don't know why, but I didn't like the look of necklaces on me with strapless dresses. It seemed like overkill. I've seen others pull it off just fine, but I didn't like it on me. I will be wearing dangly earrings and a bracelet but no necklance.
I think you could do either for your dress, but I'd make it a dainty necklace/pendant.
I won't because my dress has a lot of beading at the top and I may choose to wear the cap sleeves. I will wear larger/blinger earrings, head piece, and a bracelet.
I think you could wear one if you wanted to, but I think it would look nice without one. You have enough detailing near the neckline to not need a necklace. I'm wearing a strapless Maggie, and I'm just wearing some nice sparkly earrings and possibly a bracelet.
I am wearing one with mine (sweetheart neckline), but only because I have an incredibly long torso and, without a necklace, the dress looks like it's starting at my waist.
With yours, I wouldn't. I like the look of longer earrings and a strapless dress and I think you would rock it. It ensures your dress can be the star of the show.
I am...but strapless dresses with no necklace remind me of wearing a towel after you've just stepped out of the shower. That may very well be just something that's happening in my mind. :)
I went back and forth on a necklace, but ended up deciding against it. I prefered a cleaner look without one.
I'm leaning away from wearing a necklace. I'm going to be wearing a fascinator in my hair and earrings, and I felt like a necklace might be too much.
if you want to wearing a necklace why not?!?! there are no rules! i personally wanted and then didnt want a neckalce, but my mom insisted, so i decided to have a little tiny simple pendant...
I am not wearing a necklace with my strapless sweetheart neckline. If you wear larger earrings, you woudn't need a necklace. I don't think that you should wear a necklace and earrings though.
I am not wearing a necklace because my sweetheart neckline has embellishments. With yours, if you do wear anything, I would also suggest something dainty and unobtrusive. Pretty dress, btw!
I am wearing a necklace, and its more of a statement necklace. I have a long neck and I feel bare without one! I think yours would look great either way! Beautiful dress!! :)
I think i am but i'm wearing one I already have and wear daily... Fi got it for me for xmas and it's just a diamond heart necklace... simple. elegant and already very special to me.
I too am not wearing a necklace and will opt for more dramatic earrings, a bracelet, and a hair fascinator. I would opt out for your dress as well.
I have a strapless dress- simple chiffon with ruching above the waist. I will be wearing a necklace, since I am wearing my hair down and earrings wouldn't really show. I am looking for a classic vintage piece.
My husband had gotten me a double strand of pearls so I wore them and liked the look. I think your dress would look very nice with something simple like that or just with a little flourish, nothing much but I do prefer strapless dresses with necklaces than without.
I agree with some of the others. I think that you could go either way. If you do wear one I would do something simple. I am not wearing a neckalace because my dress has a lot going on at the top and I think that a necklace would take away from the dress.
I'm definitely wearing a necklace that I had made from one of my grandmother's diamonds. I can't wait to see it. I say go for it! I think it will look nice. My dress is also strapless.
I have a heavily beaded corset sweetheart neckline dress so no necklace. I have short hair and will be wearing a beaded headband as well as more dangly earrings and a bracelet.
I'd say a necklace depends on the other jewelry you intend on wearing with your dress. @sarahthieke - those are good options!
Your dress is beautiful, I really love the bust and the dress is just really flattering on your figure!! Honestly, I don't think you need a necklace with your gown because the top is lovely and you have a nice neck, chest, and shoulders. Some beautiful earrings would really be enough but if you want one, I love a strand of pearls, like the examples @sarahthieke gave. What would be cool would be to buy a nice strand of pearls and make them an heirloom piece to be given to your daughter (or son for his wife/daughter if you dont have a girl). In the South, it's really big to give a little a girl her own set of pearls and that would be so sweet if it was an heirloom piece. Ha sorry, I'm such a sap.
Anyways, either way would be gorgeous. Do you have any ideas?
I wore a simple diamond pendant my mom gave me. My dress was blingy up top and I didn't want anything too crazy going on.
omg you ladies are awesome!!!!!!!!!! :D I love having somewhere to turn to for opinions. hehe. But yea i agree with all of u. I think im leaning towards no necklace since theres not a huge gap between my dress and neck. And im a D cup so maybe i shouldn't draw more attention to that area. Also i do plan in wearing long earnings and a bracelet. Thank you all for the tips. I opened my eyes :)
I'm on the fence about it. I might wear one and if I do, it will be something simple. I really like the look of pearls on brides, so I'd probably do that.
Im wearing a necklace.. But im probably will go with something very thing and not too over powering.. I dont like to have a bare neck.. I want something to cover it
I like simplicity so I only wore pearl studs and my e-ring (and then also the wedding bands after the ceremony). I had a pretty awesome fascinator with some bling on it though, so I didn't need much else. Pics: (sorry they are so large!)
Hi date twin! I'm wearing a necklace and my dress is basically strapless (it has very thin straps). I would say wear one with your dress too, even if it is just a simple silver necklace with a pendant. I always wear a necklace, especially with strapless dresses - otherwise I feel too exposed.
Thanks, @love! I had it done by Nicole Wagner, she's in Portland, OR. www.nicolewagnermakeup.com. Can't say enough good things about her :)
I wore a great necklace [and earrings] from www.tigerlillyjewelry.com. They are great to work with. If you're not sure about a necklace, you can email them a picture of your dress and they'll make jewelry recommendations for you. Also, they accept returns in 30 days so if you receive the jewelry and don't like it with the gown, you can always send it back.
My dress is strapless and has a lot of beading on the top, so I'm just wearing a simple single diamond necklace. Nothing too fancy, but just enough to add to it with little diamond earrings.
I love your dress... I think you should wear a necklace with it. Maybe something that's closer to your neck (not a choker) but something in between.
Good luck! :]
I'll be wearing a necklace though I haven't picked it yet. I actually recommend nothing thin or dainty and nothing long, with a strapless dress, especially a wedding dress I think a necklace needs to be short/right on the collarbone and substantial enough to hold its own.
Here is the dress I will be wearing (except it will be a champagne color under the lace)

And here is the necklace I will wear:

I wore a necklace that I purchased from Etsy. My dress was very simple though.
I didn't wear one since my dress had lots of beading on the neckline and instead wore long dangly earrings. So I think it depends on your earrings, but your dress looks like it would go well with one of the necklaces above.
@lampshade127 - I love your necklace! Did you get it from luxedeluxe on etsy? I'm having such difficulty also with picking/settling/buying any type of necklace it's really starting to stress me out.
!
I actually bought it from PenelliBelle. She was so nice and I thought the prices were pretty reasonable too.
