Just had my hair and make-up trial last night and LOVED IT. But I almost died when she quoted me – $1,700 for hair/make-up for me and just hair for five bridesmaids. She’s a friend-of-a-friend who’s a professional hair stylist, but not a professional wedding hair/make-up person, so I thought for sure I’d get a great quote from her. (Fail.)
I’m in the San Francisco area, so maybe I should expect higher prices. Would you pay this? Or keep looking?

No way would I pay that! Definitely keep looking.

Only if I was the spitting image of Kate Beckinsdale when she was done.

I live in an expensive area as well, and that quote is ridonculous.

That seems a bit high to me. For myself and five bridesmaids for hair I am paying less than $400 (a hair stylist friend gave me a great deal). I have another lady for makeup and that’s $140 (airbrush) for me, and $50 for any BM who wants to do it. These prices all include a trial. Though, I am in Ohio and things out here aren’t as expensive.. but almost $2000? That seems steep!

Quick answer. No freakin’ way. 🙂

I wasn’t sure if I was crazy unrealistic or if this quote was crazy?!

uh…. no. (shakes head) just no.

oh hells no I would not pay that price… but this is also coming from a gal who is using her friend who is a cosmetologist and Bridesmaid to do everything for free! lol

That seems a little high even to me.
Maybe she thOught it was hair and makeup for all six plus trial?

Not a chance. I think for us it was about $200 each for both hair/MU (me plus 6 bridesmaids), and they did my mom and MIL for free. So $1400 total (that’s a big number now that I look at it), two hair stylists, two MUAs, all professionals who travelled an hour outside of the city to set up on site for us at the hotel. Plus gratuities that I added in. $1700 seems high for someone who’s a non-pro friend of a friend and not offering make up at that price as well.
