I’m having a hard time finding wedding-day transportation for a reasonable price. We only have 14 of us in total, and we really only need 4×10 minute drives but from the first ride to the last would be about 7 hours.
I first thought about hiring a motorized cable car (it’s a DW in San Francisco) but just a 3 hour trip is $850! Then I thought perhaps the hotel could help me out, but they gave me the option of either 2 stretch limos (6 hour minimum at $115 ) or a mini bus for $640 for hours.
Plus, my FI refuses to see me before the ceremony, so if we go with a single vehicle it would have to come back to the hotel and get me (so I would arrive at least 20 minutes after everyone else and we only get the ceremony space for an hour)
So how risky/bad/tacky would it be to just call cabs for the 4 trips (which I think would be between $160-$300)????

@AllieBee12: FWIW we went the limo route, but since we didn’t need the whole 3 hours so we just got one. The limo will pick the girls and I up first then go pick up FI and the boys. Easy way to slash the cost in half, so something to consider if that’s an option for you.

My problem with the single limo is the combination of having to make two trips and that we only have our space for an hour. If half of us have to wait at the ceremony space for 20 mins, then that only leaves 40 minutes for me to get up to the 4th floor, have the ceremony and do all family photos. Either that, or everyone would have to stand around for 20 mins while they set up our chairs etc.

@AllieBee12: Do you have anyone who could do the driving? If so, you could just hire a couple of normal rental cars for the day, which will be a lot cheaper than all of the previously mentioned options.

@seree: Unfortunately Parking is rediculously expensive, and since we’d probably need four cars we’d probably be paying a total of $300 just in parking . Plus I couldn’t ask anyone to do the driving, we’re only having immediate family and our very best friends.
I still don’t know what I want to do!

We also rented a car – our best man drove, and it was only $85 for the largest car they had for the day. It was clean and a great option.

If you do end up using a taxi,. simply have someone spread a couple of sheets over the whole interior- seats and floor. Your gown will remain spotless.
