I’m planning a wedding on a budget, and would be open to buying a previously enjoyed wedding dress. One that didn’t get in the way of dancing and mingling… one that didn’t prance through the waves in the Caribbean … and one that didn’t get torn off at the end of the night… Here’s an example of what I like, but I’m open to anything not too poofy or embellished. I’m 5’2, so I’ll stay away from mermaid style. I’ve seen a few Maggie Sottero dresses that appeal to me too. If you’re in the Toronto, Ontario, Canada area and you would like to see your dress be more than just a “one hit wonder”, please consider contacting me!
Congratulations to you all!

@amistry: Have you considered checking craigslist or kijiji. I always see nice dresses online.
Also, a lot of bees here have had amazing success with ebay or “china” dresses. Obviously not designer, but they are pretty gorgeous

Toronto has a Brides’ Project location, a must see for already worn dresses!

I only bought this thing with just that purpose in mind. Lol! So the answer is a big, fat, YES.

Thank you for the help! I have been on craigslist and kijiji … search continues.
@Sasha: please send photo!
@Ringpup: I’ve never heard of Brides’ Project. I’ll check it out.
BTW if I’m asking for dresses, I should mention I usually wear 4-6 (maybe sometimes 8 – depends) and I’m 5’2″
P.S. I have a GORGEOUS 1.05K solitaire engagement ring (previous marriage) to sell. Does anyone know anyone who might need to save some money and get some maximum bling?

Hey, try “Gown go round” in Newmarket. Its where I bought my dress. They have tons of dresses to try on in all different styles and dresses, some are seccond hand and some are left over dresses from other stores. The dresses there range from $200 and the highest I saw when I went was $800. I also got my veil there.

i am moving to Toronto this summer and will be selling my Jenna by Maggie Sottero. My wedding is next week and I only plan to wear the dress for 6 hours! And I plan to take very good care of it. PM if interested.

@dynamic_duo: Do you still this dress available?

You need to find something vaguely in the right size for you. Theres alterations sure, but you can’t expect a size 12 gown to have the same bust as a size 4. Smartbride and Brides’ Project is a great option. Kijiji too but Smart Brides actually let you search by size. Brides Project you don’t know until you get there but they have good variety especially in the sample dress size because a lo of stores donate older samples there. For me it was a bust.
