Never heard the name before, but I would think it is it’s own name with the pronunciation of ah-less-ah.  I wouldn’t think it was a speshul spelling because it looks like it would be pronounced differently than Alyssa, and it is.

@Schatzie821:  I would think it’s a different name than Alissa/Alyssa, but I also knew an Alesa, so maybe that’s why.

I read it as it was meant to be ah-less-a. You might have people read it wrong but they will do that no matter how you spell any name.

With the double S, I would pronounce it like Vanessa and not Elise (e-lease)

I ddon’t know if there is a correct way I would spell the name. To me it sounds like a made up name along the sane lines as Jayden or  Shawna.

I would pronounce it the way you intend, but it may only be because I am Italian and spent quite a bit of time in Italy growing up. Otherwise – I think it will be mispronounced all the time. It does look like ah-less-ah but people mispronounce much simpler names all the time so I don’t have much hope, haha. Its a pretty name though and I don’t think I’d let that stop me from using it if I were you.

My parents were actually going to name me Alessandra, but decided it against it because they felt it would be difficult for people to pronounce.

@Schatzie821:  The way I read your pronunciation it seems the same as the way I spelled it out?

@Schatzie821:  I would think it would be it’s own name, & if I saw it, I would think he would be pronounced “Ah-leeze-ah” or “uhl-eeze-uh”

Yeah, it looks like it’s pronounced differently from Alyssa.

@Schatzie821:  I had a teacher who named her daughter Alessa. Not sure how it could be confused with Alyssa, since they are pronounced differently.
