It’s not for me, personally. I feel like I could get away with a fancy black dress for any special event, but your wedding is one of the few places a super fancy white dress is appropriate. Just my thoughts. To each her own, of course.

Some of those dresses are gorgeous, but I would never wear a black wedding dress.

I like them a lot and would consider wearing one if black didn’t completely wash me out. I wore a short green dress instead of your typical flowy white one.

I personally wouldn’t wear a black wedding dress because it looks more like a formal evening gown rather than a wedding dress… however… there are gorgeous dresses out there in black (some of which you posted). Here’s one of my favorites, it’s Dakota by Enzoani:

Hell. No. Not for me at all. Obviously I don’t care what other brides wear, but I am traditional, as are my friends and family. They’d freak out if I wore that!

I think they’re beautiful but it’s almost too much black. If I were going to wear a non white wedding dress I think I’d pick a different color – maybe a gorgeous blue or something. I almost bought a black maxi dress because in theory it was amazing but once I put it on I felt like I was wearing a giant shadow. It made me feel heavy. It’s hard to explain. Now, if they were cocktail length that would be a different story.

I’m not so traditional that I couldn’t wear anything but white. But I feel there are more occassions in life to wear any other color so I wanted to take advantage of the one time I could wear white without being accused of being inappropriately bridal. 🙂

When I think of a wedding dress, I think of white/ivory/cream/pale gold/champagne/(*insert variation here*). For me personally, any other colour is just not bridal; I’ve seen black wedding dresses, as well as other colours like pink and red, and to me, they’re not wedding dresses; they’re prom dresses or evening dresses. I also assume that it’s a second marriage if I see a bride in a coloured dress

That’s possibly a controversial view, but that’s just my personal opinion; I’d never wear anything other than white/ivory. Those dresses are beautiful, but more something I’d wear to a black-tie event.

No way! It’s not bridal enough for me. I do have a black sash like the pp though.

@Elolith:  Sorry it showed up at first! 🙁 Just Google Dakota by Ezoani black and you should see pictures of Paula Abdul in the dress…
