I would wear whatever the bride asked me to.
I am however, not fond of bubble hems. I don't think they contribute to the elegant look you are going for.
I think the dress is great- except for the hem. I would have a seamstress drop the bubble into a normal straight hem.
i love it except the bubble bottom..... i don't like those personally, but i do love the dress
Although I'm not a huge fan of the bubble hem, I would wear whatever the bride asks me to.
How many bridesmaids are you having? IIWY I'd copy this picture into a photo editor and paste it as many times as you have bridesmaids... three, four, five of these all in a row and you may not feel the same way about it. I think it's really way too much personally.
I think that's a fun dress individually... but how many girls are in your bridal party? I had a friend get married and her bmaids had long dresses but with a similar neckline. While I loved the dress alone, it was a little much seeing several people all together with it.
What about this dress from Target? It's only $70 and has a similarly ruffled neckline but not quite as pronounced.

I think the colour is really pretty, but I'm not a fan of the ruffles. I think your dress is stunning though!
@julies1949: oooh a seamstress could do that?! That could be awesome!
@RockStar33: @Blueknightess: You girls would be good BMs! I'm not opposed to the bubble hem because some of my girls are a little wider in the hips/tush/tummy area so I thought it might be a little disguising and help them feel more comfortable than an aline.
@Over the Moon: good point! I have 6 BMs and should definitely do that~ thanks for the suggestion!
@calypso0712: oh yes! I keep forgetting about Target's line of BM dresses. I am just a little worried about the fabric and that it might not be as good in person... Maybe I should order one and then if I don't like it I can take it right back to the store right?
I think it is an adorable dress.... and would be flattering on most all body types. I say go for it!
@Lyndzo: AWE thank you darlin! I am a little worried that the girls would have to all have up do's with this style and one has already said she wants to have her hair down so that's also something to think about... hmm
@ella86: Thanks! Glad you think so... I have some fun flirty BMs and a few conservative shy ones so I'm also wondering if they have the personality to pull this off... hmmmm...
I think they are great! I tried on a similar dress as I'm in a friends wedding this summer and it was a bit low-cut so just watch out for that...
@Amanda_Rae: That's totally what I'm going for as well! I want to make sure the curvier girls feel just as fun and beautiful as the stick thin ones and I think this might be good for that :]
I'm going to be honest, I like where you're going with it but I think it would be much nicer without the massive ruffle. If I were your BM and you really have your heart set on it I'd wear it, but I wouldn't necessarily be excited about it.
@Miss Orchard: oooh really? I'm definitely trying to avoid that!
I have some big busted girls that haaate strapless dresses because they always have to keep pulling them up and etc etc so I thought this cut might help with support & etc. and avoid showing too much cleavage... thanks for the advice!
Your dress is BEAUTIFUL and fits you wonderfully! I'm a non-traditional traditionalist... (hmmm...interesting statement eh?) My wedding gown, whenever i get to pick it up, has purple in the train and on the bodice and is ivory, but, i could never, ever, ever, ever, ever put my girls in a short dress... I think when you are going for formal (or even semi-formal) long dresses are the way to go (the current trend for short prom dresses drives me CRAZY).. I'm not sure what you'd think of it, but go to ebay, look at BM dresses there, you may find a long beautiful dress there you like, thats where i'm getting the dress for my sisters wedding ... and paying about 1/3 what i would in a store... this is coming from a 27 year old bride to be.. but i've always liked longer dresses for formal events.. i was very upset with myself when an ex had me wear a short dress for homecoming and prom in high school, i wont even look at those pix anymore... make sure whatever you like is what you like, and that when you are showing your kids pix, you wont regret what you see
I think it's cute and I really like the color. I would wear it!
I voted YES because you are the bride and you pick the colour and style (this is my second wedding and I learned a lot one thing being don't give them a choice because no matter what someone will b!tch or have something to say). It'd probably look good on and nice in pics but if I was just buying a dress I personally would not choose that style or colour because it is just not my personal taste but I can see how someone else would love it. As a bridesmaid I would happily wear it! It will really pop in your photos!
I have to say your dress looks AMAZING on you! You made the perfect choice, best wishes you are a beautiful bride!
I would, but it's not something I would chose myself, mainly because I am not a ruffle girl. I would be thrilled about the price though :) I have been in 3 weddings and didn't like the dress in 2 (both of which were 200 dollars). I wore them and smiled because I have always thought the bride has enough to worry about without hearing I do or don't like about the dress she chose.
@thursdayschild: @mightywombat: lol Thank you for being honest :]
@HiroshymaTetrastar: AWWWE thank so much for the compliment! mwah! I LOVE eBay and definitely look there often but I was sort of worried about the fit on my girls because they range in size/shape so much. I can understand your advice for floor length but at the same time, the fabric & color are pretty formal too! I have some big girls that I'm afraid will just look/feel bigger with a floor length satin gown (because my gown is duchess silk, I'm pretty set on the girls having a shiny fabric as well) but I do like the long flowy chiffon gowns... if I could get those in a range of sizes and a nice teal/blue for less than $100 I would definitely consider it! What eBay store did u get your dress from? :]
OH and I also LOVE shoes and the different personalities of them so I like a fun cocktail dress so the girls can show off their shoes ;]
@zippylef: ME TOO! Thanks for your input!
@EncoreBridetoBe: Thanks for the advice about giving them choice... I was going to do that because I'm so frustrated with the whole thing but your advice makes total sense~ thank you! Maybe I should have a vote? But then who ever votes for the loser will be disappointed... hmmm. Thank you SO MUCH for the compliment about my dress as well! You are so sweet! thank you thank you thank you!
@countrygirl62312: ah yes the price is very important to me because I worry and go back and forth about the girls spending this money on something they may or may not like/wear again so I definitely want the most bang for their buck! thank you for the input and kudos for being an ideal BM! ;D
It's not my wedding, but I don't like that dress. Alfred Angelo has several dresses for around $150 and quite a few that you can do in two colors.
@KimmySumShuga: I haven't ordered the dress yet (and its a high/low { http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gorgeous-Prom-Bridesmaid-Cocktail-Dress-6021-Sz-US-4-18-/390166550519?pt=Bridesmaid_Dress&var=&hash=item99ab2c221f in pink} because i'm not in the wedding and dont wanna look like i am, but here's the store, they have lots of pretty dresses! http://stores.ebay.com/Imestore/High-Quality-Evening-Dress-/_i.html?_fsub=11274807&_sid=125862548&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322) I also have a few different shapes in my wedding, ranging from a size 0 to somewhere around what i think may be a 10/12.. i found this dress http://www.alfredangelo.com/collections/productdisplay.aspx?productID=542b8bd1-31e0-4b6b-936f-0777d2250432&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65&pg=0&colorId1= which is what i'm gonna have my 2 moh and my 2 maids (one JR) if you look they have a 'bigger' girl and a skinny minnie in it and they both look STUNNING!
I would wear what you asked me to for your wedding, but I don't like the neck ruffles at all
I really don't like ruffles, and bubble hems don't work on some body shapes... It looks a bit too busy for my taste personally. The colour is pretty and I think your bridesmaids would definitely appreciate that you're conscious of the cost. I wouldn't love to wear it as a bridesmaid but it's not very expensive and if it's what the bride really wanted, I would suck it up and rock it.
Side-note, you look gorgeous in your dress!
@KimmySumShuga: I'm not a fan of ruffles and bubble skirts especially since bubble skirts aren't flattering to some people.
I personally would wear whatever the bride asked me too also. and I love that dress only becuase that cut looks great on me.
That being said I know that cut and bubble hems are not too flattering on some of my girls. I personally love it, but i would keep searching. Also it is a little busy (Which again I love) the busyness would look fine with two or three maids, but Im afraid it might get overwhelming with more than that and I don't know how big your bridal party is.
I would wear the dress if the bride asked me too however, im not a fan of the neckline. I would rather a strapeless or one shoulder strap dress!9
You can get dresses from J. Crew for $50-60 in their sale section regularly. They have great colors and styles that could be worn again. Honestly, that bubble hem seems more appropriate for a tween than a bridesmaid.
@mbaldan: @AirForceWife78: @Dub D: Thanks for your input about the ruffles... I worry that these ruffles would require the girls to wear their hair up but most of them want to wear their hair down in loose curls so that might be telling me I should keep looking as well.
@CassandraC: Thank you so much for your sweet words ;] I like the color and cost too but yeah I might have to keep looking cuz I would want the dresses fun but if that sucks the fun out of my BMs because they don't like what they're wearing, thats not okay.
@globalmargaret: I like the detail aka busyness of it as well but I do have 6 BMs and my dress is quite chic and minimalist so you might be right about finding a dress less loud because there will already be 6 of them anyway!
@kc3636: I like one shoulders and strapless but some of my girls are big busted and find strapless dresses cumbersome because the fit is never amazing and they're constantly pulling them up.
@mink: Thanks for the J.Crew suggestion! I didn't think I'd be able to get all my sizes (2-16/18) there but I'll definitely keep it in mind! I just saw that their online shopping is 20% off for orders of $150 or more so that's definitely a plus! Thanks!
i love the color but the ruffly stuff on the top is a little over the top for my taste, but as long as you love it, and the BM's don't pitch a fit then it dosn't really matter right? :)
@TEAMFIGS: I like that theory but I think my BMs are the kind to wear it but talk smack on it amongst themselves... lol
I think a few of them might genuinely not like it and feel like they couldn't wear their hair down like they want to and its bold and eye catching like my style but many of them are more reserved.
What do you guys think of this one from J.Crew that @mink: enlightened me to?

It comes in sizes 2-16 and has a pretty forgiving skirt section and pockets!
It also was $250 but is marked down to $80 + 20% off for purchasing more than $150 so with tax it would come out to about $70 per dress with J.Crew quality and a bow that pretty much goes with the bows on the back of my gown!
I think I'm in love...
THANK YOU for steering me to J.Crew @mink:!!!
Teal is my favorite color too! LOL. But no, I would not wear this dress. Much too busy for me.
I love the color! I think it's beautiful but I have to agree about the ruffles. I'm really not a fan. I think between the ruffles and deep neckline I would feel really self conscious in the first one.
That J. Crew dress is adorable though! I think if I were a BM I would feel much more comfortable/cute in that. :)
Is your affair only teal? Or is it teal and some other color? ...
Also, the most flatering for all body types is a halter or strapless A line dress. Even though it is your wedding the girls will want to feel like princesses too. Dressing up is alway fun...IDC how old you are.

I think the color your going for is amazing. I originally wanted my colors to my teal and coral and ended up going with jade and hot pink. However, the dress is just a bit too trendy, but all in all it's your wedding so go with what makes you happy.
I 100% prefer the J.Crew dress you just posted. It goes much better with your dress, too. I think the first style is very dated, and since your dress is so modern and beautiful, your bm dresses should follow suit.
First off, you look absolutely beautiful in your dress!!!!
But that first BM dress with the ruffles and the bubble hem? I never ever write on things if I don't love them. But I just have to for this one....because it reminds me of one of the bad dresses from "27 dresses". You're the bride so as a BM I would wear it, but jeeze I would really hate it.
I think the JCrew dress is 10000000% more glam and age appropriate.
The Limited had a series of dresses in this teal and they were incredibly flattering, but that was in Fall so I'm not sure if this color is stil available, but that also might be worth a look.
I can't upload a pic, but this dress is $34.99 then 40% off, and they have lots of sizes left.

I'd wear whatever the bride wanted me to wear, but I would not be happy about wearing that first dress. The ruffles, the butt bow, the bubble hem... it's just too much, and IMO it is very young looking.
I much prefer the blue J. Crew dress - it's a much cleaner, more sophisticated look.

I'm going crazy thinking about bridesmaids dresses because of cost and colors and designs and MY theme and venues and AHHHHH I'm starting to give up on my fashionable, teal/ocean inspired dress dreams and am thinking about just telling everyone to get a blue dress and show up... BUT I don't want it to backfire and look sloppy :[
Sooo the search is continuing~ I'm trying to stay away from traditional BM dresses because I feel like they are marked up unnecessarily because they are associated with weddings.
I saw this dress on kohls.com for $88 + 15% discount for using kohl's charge = $75 each. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/womens/dresses/party/PRD~891372/Expo+Ruffle+Taffeta+Dress.jsp#
I actually think its really fun, a lovely color & would look nice on all the different hips, busts, waists, in my group (size 2-16) BUT is it too much fun and not enough wedding?
I go back and forth about wanting a "timeless" wedding but also not wanting to be too plain and lacking in fun, unique and flare like my personality tends to be.
Would I regret picking this dress?
Would you wear it as a BM?
Am I crazy?!
Here's my dress and it has similar bows on the back as the teal Kohl's dress
