Just a quick question. We are going skiing for a week out of state. My mom is set on me not taking my ring with me. She is afraid of someone stealng it from the hotel room. They have a safe but she made me promise not to take it. this frustrates me. i know she is looking out for me but somehow I think she is overreacting. My question is do you guys leave your rings at home or take them with you on vacation?

@Inlove2001: I have always worn my rings everywhere, even when on vacation.
ETA: I think the chances of you losing your rings is much higher than having them stolen.

My hubby always convinces me to leave my rings and then I’m sad at some point on the trip since I do not have it. LOL, so I wear a stand-in. In fact I just upgraded to a stand-in that looks more like my actual set and I can’t wait to take it on our next trip.

You’re way more likely to have your phone stolen than your ring. If you feel comfortable taking your phone then you should feel comfortable taking your ring.

@Inlove2001: If that date is correct, you are already married? I’d wear my wedding ring but leave my engagement ring at home. (But I wear my wedding ring only most of the time anyway).
(Also if you’re married I don’t see why this is your mother’s business, unless the ring is a family heirloom).

It depends on where I am going… but skiing seems like a pretty safe place. Can’t you just wear it skiing?

Of course. I’m sure many more people lose their jewelry just going around their daily business than on trips. Obviously you wouldn’t just not wear your ring any time you could lose it. What’s jewelry insurance for, anyway?

I take my ring everywhere, but it’s not worth a whole heck of alot. If you plan to wear it the whole time, then yeah I’d take it.. but if you plan to take it off, I would leave it home. I’ve heard alot of stories of people getting stuff stolen from their rooms.

@aussiemum1248: yes we upgraded my set on our 10 year wedding anniversary. I think I will just wear my band. i totally agree, it’s none of her business, no it’s not an heirloom. Thank you.

@jenilynevette: I will be taking it off more than having it on. I can’t wear gloves with it on. Agree, I’ve heard horror stories.

@Taeyers: we have insurance but I am totally in love with my ring. Would hate to have taken.

@jcent: No I tried on my gloves and they won’t fit over the stone. I am going to wear just my wedding ring and leave engagement ring stone home.

@Inlove2001: If you’d prefer to take it then you should, I know I won’t be leaving mine behind! Just make sure you have total coverage on your insurance 🙂

Could you put in on a sturdy necklace so you don’t risk losing it or not having it on your person?
