It looks gorgeous, hopefully he won't veto it! (As if you would let him)....
Beautiful! Wow...i'd love this place to be my solemnization ceremony/wedding reception if it's not too far from here!
xoxo,lala
no congrats yet, i'm not engaged yet lol!! but he hates bed and breakfasts because they were more than likely slave plantations and that doesn't sit well with him. i am okay with an older place as long as they don't say "plantation" in the name. let's see he wants to stay on a strict budget. i would prefer a slightly larger one. i wanted outdoor and historical... i think we may have a winner with this one.. now all that's left is the pesky technicality of me actually being engaged lol!! with this as a venue, i could feasibly plan a wedding in a few months... and it's in new orleans so my oot guests would have plenty to do (think bourbon street, the french quarter market, etc)
@princess la la: it's in new orleans, la... sorry dear :(
Oh crebre80,I initially booked a venue at a park on a hill here. However,my fiance's family think it's an inconvenience. So i had to book an indoor hall overlooking the park instead. It's alrite now.
I really hope all will go well for you tho! It's such a romantic place with history too!
xoxo,lala
It's gorgeous! I hope he likes it, because you could have an amazing wedding there!
How pretty! I like it! Just go check it out in person--sometimes places look great in pictures but so blah in person.
nah there are weddings there all the time, it's in the local city park in new orleans (m's been there, but doesn't remember this place)... he'd like it because well it's cheap and that works for him... we'll see after the proposal...
sigh i'm in love and it has that greek culture.. it reminds me of this place (a place I showed M last night and he loved it, until he saw the pricing then he was like UM HE... NO)

Aww..this is lovely too! Bt why not M like it?? I think it'sw worth it (If the cost is not too astronomical) cos this is romantic too!!!
That place looks great, Cre! Hope M likes it, too! You don't find anything like that in most city parks! You can't beat the price either.
Ummmmmmm I'm invited to your wedding, RIGHT?! The corect answer is yes. Goodness, I love it so, so much! It's gorgeous!
@princesslala: starting price is 2500 to get married there. he was like HECK NO... lol!!
@az: the price is sooo cheap he'd be okay with it, i mean seriously less than 600?! i wonder if i can tent put little tents up... it'd sooo be something like this... i'd string chinese lanterns from one end to the other to completely transfrom the area.... and i love the lighting... i could actually stay in his nearly nothing budget using this venue or just slightly go over it...

@vegasbaby: i don't think the cheap guy that resides within M will allow it to be vetoed since the price is so great...
@KM: yeppers you and a select few will have to receive invites or else i'll NEVER hear the end of it lmbo!!
Beautiful, Cre! I'm sure they've had tents up before with all the events that are held there. Can I have one of those martinis now? :P Like the things i focus in on? What time of day are you thinking?
@az: dusk i think... or perhaps a smidge earlier so it will be nice and lit for the ceremony and romantic ambiance for the reception. and yeppers because M has his liquor's license, that will be NO problem at all... food can be catered by a local restaurant (i LOVE mexican, but we could definitely do crawfish, etc as well) also i would have fun stuff for the kids to do... think 4th of july at night besides fireworks i'd just have some really comfy casual stuff great chairs, etc... btw none of the inspiration boards are mine, they are the ones i found on the net.... i'm seriously digging the english garden outdoor wedding type theme. but i'd throw in the ostrich feather centerpieces for good taste because well that's me... i'm a juxtaposition of things... and wouldn't they look fanastic against that scene and so out of place yet right?!
@91011: I really like it and the price is utter perfection... we'll see though lol.. .i still have a really sexy black guy who has to ask a really cute black girl a question before we can get started with this :D
It's a beautiful location & at that price... How can you not love it?
However, my advice would be not to get your heart set on it just yet. Girls (and every bee out there) gets it! Guys sometimes do. not.
I loved, loved, loved a location & my FI just didn't. I was so upset... I even cried like a big baby who wasn't going to get her way (shame!) He has barely had any requirements regarding our wedding, so I had to give in & find a new venue.
@RB: been there done that, he vetoed EVERY SINGLE ONE of my previous choices lmao!!! i think he'll love the price more... i love the fact that my guests can come in from out of town and stay in a great city and that his family don't have THAT far to drive (only an hour) well we all have to drive that hour lol...
Oh I get you & I think its overall super-awesome! It's close to his family & they get to stay in the big easy! Woo hoo!
It is lovely (and RB lovely, not the bad lovely that I read about in a chat thread!) I love that word :) It feels very british haha. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you girlie!!
@RB: LMAO ABOUT LOVELY!!! Yes I think it's adorable and exactly the vibe I was going for, it has history, but is sort of sexy and it's right on the water... I may actually be able to afford my Fola... I mentioned to him loosely that I found a place to reserve for about 600 and he just grinned like crazy (remember he wants to spend like 1500 total). and i loosely went hunting on preowned dresses and found quite a few really cool dresses in my size... we'll see though...
strange aside. i just remembered he's paying more attention to jewelry commercials.. he's getting really quiet when they come on. it's quite adorable. i know he's thinking about it and i'm pretty sure as soon as he gets the money he'll get the ring. but i don't know how long he'll hold it before giving it to me...
It iss nice as a child we would take fieldtrips to storyland which is nearby and than go to the peristyle to feed the ducks in the lagoon next to it
I just spoke to someone in sales for city park a few days ago... I was told all receptions held at CP had to be catered by CP.... which is where the price goes up. :/ I didn't ask about this location though so I might have to check on it!! It is beautiful!!
Wow!! I really like it. It reminds me of the big party scene in "the Princess and the Frog" =)
@najb: lol yeah it's a no because we can't have music there...
@mere: that sucks!!!
@krissy: honestly it may have been based there because they had tons of parties tehre...
@pudding: lol it is beautiful too bad it's probably not our venue lol!!!
eta http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/i-may-be-giving-up-our-brunch-dreams

@magenta: trust me I couldn't afford it if I wasn't chosing a weekday or evening wedding and having a 60 guest wedding.
@krissy: i really like it too, but let's definitely wait to see if it is the one, we are currently working on a pros and cons list. of course i'll let ya know what we decide.
Oh how fun! It's so beautiful there (esp. in the Spring)...I took my bridals at the Peristyle in City Park! :)

Until M vetoes it! This place is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. The pricing is perfect, the venue has history, but no slavery, it's near to the water.. .it's simply beautiful.... btw this jewel is 475 plus 100 trash fee... yes that's right less than 600! and it's covered and outdoors!!!
