Do a "Declaration of Intent" (i.e. Do you take this woman to be your wedded wife?) say "I Do" and then have the officiant say something like "Now smactley and mr. smactley would like to exchange the vows they have written for eachother" and say your personal vows.
You can do both - say vows and do the traditional "I do" verse. That's what my husband and I did.
This is what we did as well. She treated our personal vows as statements to each other and then did the traditional vows and had us say "I do" at the end.
hmm..good point. I guess I didn't think I could do both without it seeming a little strange, but that does make sense...feel free to send me examples :)
Thanks!

I really want to do the whole write your own vows thing, but FI likes the traditional vows, where we both say "I DO"...any ideas on how to compromise on the two?
THanks!
