I would google some professional videographers and check our their posted policies on their web sites for guidance. That will give you some idea of what normal contracts/arrangements usually look like with a professional, and it might draw your attention to caveats or terms you hadn't thought about.

Hi bees,
I wanted to ask a few questions about writing up your own contract. Basically we are on a modest budget and after using CL to find a videographer we have been overwhelmed with replies from people offering to video our wedding for us.. for a really good price. The thing is they are mainly freelancers, off a craigslist of course and are not strickly in the business of wedding video production. So, we are going to have to make up some kind of contract, pay about 50% upfront and go on our gut that things will work out.
Basically I am asking if anyone went this route and any tips about the contract? Writing up a contract what is needed to make it legal?
