@adams.sarah2012:  The petite usually applies to the length of the gown. If the seller didn’t advertize the dress as petite, I’d contact them and tell them that you’d like to return the dress for a refund, since the merchandise wasn’t as advertized. If you used paypal, you might have some recourse with the seller that way.

Can you get a corset put in the back? This will give it extra room!

Edited because you answered while I was posting!

Can they put a midesty panel in to give you more room in the corset!

is it long enough? b/c i also though P was because Petiet people need it shorter

contact the seller, or go to a seamstress NOW!!!  If none of that works, then sell the dress, but go now to a birdal shop and get your new dress!!! they will probably be able to get it in before your wedding!!!  Dont stress, you still have time 🙂

To me it seems less that it’s a petite (because petite typically means that the sizing is adjusted vertically, so you’ve got a shorter bust-to-waist, hollow-to-hem, back length, etc, rather than adjusting the size smaller) but that the seller had alterations done without listing them. *That* is definitely something the seller should have mentioned. Regardless, I’d contact them and say you want to return it because they didn’t advertise it as a petite.

I hope returning it goes smoothly. You might in the mean time want to bring it to a seamstress to have her see if there’s any fabric at the seams that would make it possible to let out.

Petite is not just a shorter dress–the proportions are also shorter–the waist to bust length is going to be shorter, so if you’re not petite, then the waist is going to sit too high and not be on your waist in addition to the length being a bit shorter from waist to hem.  If the waist of a dress is too high, it’s going to be too tight where it is.  I’d definitely contact the seller and/or paypal.

In the meantime, look for another dress that will fit.  Your day won’t be ruined, you probably don’t look like a cow and it will end up ok.  Calm down and make this work girl.

This isn’t your fault, it’s the sellers. They advertised it on the wrong basis and they should take the blame.

@adams.sarah2012:  Well, on the plus side, you’ve got 3 months to lose them!  It’s totally doable, especially because it’s probably only 5-10 pounds tops, right?

Although this doesnt help, I’m thinking maybe the sample size that you tried on was stretched out a bit as well?  The samples can be significantly larger than the actual dress sizes from all the people getting in and out of them.  So, even though it doesn’t solve the situation, perhaps it would make you feel better that it’s not just you.

At least you have some time.  Take it to a seamstress and see what they say.
