Oye. Seriously. Just need to vent here because I’m getting a liiiiiitttle stressed out!
I wanted to aim for $10,000, but I sorta planned to save for $12,500 just in case. And unless I find some ways to cut some more corners, it’s going to inflate to $14,500. OYE OYE OYE.
I thought I was cleverly cutting so many corners… My entire wedding day look will be less than $1000, FI bought his suit for only $150, I’m cutting out RSVP envelopes and postage by doing online, I got a lot of decorations for free from friends who got married (or for very cheap… 199 blue chair bows for $75!) Seriously, Ebay is my mother and I’s best friend. We’re DIYing the music because my dad knows people in the local music biz and can borrow/rent quite cheaply speakers, and he himself has run sound for local events so he can get it all set up… half the songs we want to play we probably have somewhere and don’t even have to buy off of iTunes…. I am having NO flowers, I have spent probably $200 on brooch bouquets, but that’s for me and my 5 bridesmaids! We got the 100+ wine bottles for centerpieces for free… Most things we HAVE purchased have been on sale….We’re doing a heavy hors d’ouevres reception!! Where my wonderful mother is pre-prepping or even making most of the food!!!!
WTF? How does it add up so fast? Sigh. I know I am certainly not the first bride tearing her hair out over this, nor the last. Just wanted to vent. I’m trying!!!!

Oh no, that is stressful! If you haven’t already, maybe decide on each you and your FIs top three more important things and focous there. You might be able to cut a little more in the less important areas (though you seem to already be doing a great job!). I might also make a spreadsheet to keep track of exactly what everything is costing and try to cut anything you can down from there. Good luck!

So I’m confused, what did you actually spend the money on? How at you at $14K if you cut so many corners, and spent so little on Decor, brooch bouquets, etc….
Have you kept track of your purchases on a spreasheet? I’m shocked to see that your even cooking the cocktail hour type reception and still hitting such a high number. Does this total include your honeymoon?

yeah, i am also a little confused. my budget is at about 14K with slight help from my father. and i have not done any DIY yet, but i will for the bouquets. I use excel that has a spreadsheet for a wedding budget. writing everything down will help understand where the money is going. maybe your venue or honeymoon is eating up large chunks of the budget, which is normal.

So, what’s making the price go up? My budget was $10,000 as well, but I have spent about $12,000. I didn’t cut as many corners as you. And I’m having a dinner. I can’t figure out what the money is going too.
