i have been going on and off for years now…. this round (round 3) i have lost 32lbs so far and it is pretty easy once you get the hang of counting points and the jist of the system. anyways, i pay to use etools (their online website) and i also go to meetings in person but you dont have to…. it is ($9.22 a week i think??) i know it comes out to about 30 dollars a month.  basically you just count points (they are based on fat, carbs, protein, and fiber) for the food items that you eat and you get a certain number of points per day based on your height weight and activity level.

oh the online tools have this awesome recipe maker where you just put the ingredients in and it calculates the points for you! soooo easy! its kind of like calorie counting…. but it breaks it down based on how your body digests food so its healthier, and puts it into points… they actually just updated the program so its a good time to join 🙂

@Ireland: The online tools have a great thing called the “recipe builder”. You put in all your ingredients as well as the number of servings it makes and the builder spits out the points per serving. You can also save your recipe so you don’t have to do it every time you make that recipe, you just pick it from your list of saved recipes.

First time I did WW I lost 20lbs and hit my goal. Got too lax when I moved into the city and changed jobs.

Most of the reason you see BIG losses in the first week or so is because a lot of the first losses are water weight. Unhealthy diets often have a lot of sodium which makes you retain water. When you switch your diet to more natural food and up your water intake, you will drop some water weight.

WW actually suggests you average 0.5 – 2lbs per week loss. It is a very healthy way to go about weight loss and it helps teach you tools for life and how to eat well for the rest of your life.

Plus, NOTHING is off limits. There is no “bad” or “forbidden” food. It’s just about budgeting and moderation.

The program also emphasizes (and rewards with more points to eat) exercise. It really just teaches you how to live a healthy life.

PS I promise I don’t work for WW.

@Ireland: the first week most people lose more than normal (i lost 7 lbs my first week) but that is because it is alot of water weight…. your body is like “woah… whats going on” when you change your diet to accomodate to your bodys needs (ie more fruits and veggies and whole foods).  its all evens out after that… since then i have lost .5 lbs on average per week.

@Ireland: WW really gives you an awareness of WHAT you are really eating and helps you understand portion sizes. You may be eating the right things, but just too much of them.

Or you may have one real weight loss killer in your diet without realizing it.

I can’t speak to the actually meetings, as I’ve only done the online program, but it could be a great place to meet people who are also trying to lead a healthier lifestyle.

@stephanie63087: Haha I know! I think they should hire us. Wink

@Ireland: I don’t excercise as much as I should.

My one constant is that I horseback ride once a week.

Other than that the things I try to do at the gym are:

yoga

elliptical (usually 45 min – 1 hr)

jog/run on treadmill (30 min)

zumba (haven’t done this in AGES)

On a really good week I get to the gym 3 times. More recently it’s been one gym trip every 2 weeks (not ideal).
