@StL.Ashley:   I voted to do the alterations in St Louis only because I think it might be easier to fly a person than a “big” ball gown dress – but I don’t fly much so perhaps there are ways of having them transported that I don’t know about.  Good luck, either way!!  🙂

@StL.Ashley:  I vote option A with a twist.  Head to a shop in St. Louis while you are there next, and ask the professional what he/she thinks about how often he/she needs to see you 🙂  I am not sure you will need an extra trip in May, but rather, the seamstress may be able to accommodate last minute alterations the Wednesday before your wedding, especially since you said it is fairly simple as is.

I would not fly with it…but I am a very anxious person 🙂

@StL.Ashley:  Fittings are so much simpler to do locally, and I wouldn’t want to risk needing last-minute alterations the week of your wedding – my seamstress at least seemed like she wasn’t super flexible to do last-minute alterations. I’d fly the dress back to NJ with you and get all your alterations done locally, and then fly back to StL with the dress the week of your wedding. That way you don’t have to worry about it, you can iron out any necessary alterations near home.
