I'm trying to start Christmas gift shopping early this year (believe it or not, this is VERY early for me), but I'm a little stumped on what to get my new family. So far I have Vera Bradley wallets and bags for the moms and my aunt, but I'm stuck on everyone else.

So... what are you getting your future in-laws, or your NEW in-laws?

we might get FIL a digital camera, but mostly we are giving albums of our wedding pics.  we will probably also get MIL (and maybe FIL--they are divorced) a digital picture frame, with photos preloaded of DH as a kid (from our wedding slideshow) and of us and of the wedding (MIL is something of a luddite, so 'pre-loaded' is the key phrase here).

WOw good question, since my FI and I are paying for our own wedding and we have no money...we are probably going to do a joint present. Possibly cookware since his mom likes to cook and a nice bottle of Irish Whiskey for his Dad.

We're letting them pick their own gifts this year. Maybe its crazy, but we don't have the time, nor energy to ponder/shop around for things.

With four families, just showing up was a good gift. :)

I got his mom a Neiman Marcus Coffee scoop (sounds expensive, but it wasn't too bad). The look on her face when she got the NM box was great. I baked a lot of homemade desserts and wrote really nice (non Christmas) cards to them thanking them for my fiance and telling them how glad I was to be a part of their holiday traditions. Pictures also rock for on a budget year.

Every parent I've ever met loves pictures of their child! I love those multiframe ones. You could put a couple of pics of your FI/DH and then one of the two of you. Micheals and Target usually have really pretty affordable frames. My FI is a wonderful photographer so I think I'm going to have one of the beautiful photographs he took while on deployment overseas blown up and framed for his mom.

Fiance and I have been doing joint gifts for our respective sets of parents for years.  I do not plan to get them something "extra special" the Christmas after we get married, we'll just get them a regular Christmas gift from their wish list or hubby will pick something out.  Though I do like the wedding album idea, but I might want to do that for a wedding gift to them!
