We usually get a present for the whole family every Christmas and its usually a more expensive gift, this year I was thinking about getting the kinect for the xbox. I was wondering if anyone on here would recommend it. Last year we got the wii, but after a month or so we stopped using it. Is this kinect thing similiar to the wii? I am interested in starting to do my work outs on it (the jillian micheals workouts) so If anyone has tried that I would love to hear if its worth the money!

The Kinect is AWESOME and you use your entire body, no lazy controller flicking/moving from the couch. I would highly recommend it, especially if you like the work out games and dancing/sports options.

We have a Kinect and a Wii. The Kinect is fun, but it a little like the Wii. There are some better games for Kinect, but still not many. We mostly use the dancing game (lots of fun, and hilarious to watch people playing), and the disc of games that came with the Kinect. Kinect also lets you control your XBox without the controller which is pretty handy. The Kinect is fun, but we definitely played with the Kinect more when we first got it, and now only play the games when we have people over that want to play. That being said, I don’t think we have used the Wii in ages, definitely use the Kinect (and the XBox) more than the Wii.

I love the kinect. One thing to keep in mind that it does require a lot of clear space, we had to completely re do our living room in a “kinect friendly” arrangement which I’m not really thrilled with. We live in a small apartment- if it were at my parents place it wouldn’t be as big of a deal.

It will go in our living room so there is a pretty big space there, I found someone online that will trade their xbox for my wii, so I think I might do that, then get the Kinect. Thanks for the help!

I got one for my birthday (July) I dont use it alot because we dont have a lot of space and have to rearrange the living room to use it. BUT it’s good fun and you use all of your body, a proper work out 🙂
