Just came across this artcle on the Finance section of Yahoo. I know that majority of bees know moissanite exists, but the general public typically doesn’t so I thought it was pretty cool to an article about it on a popular search engine.
There isn’t much else to this post, just thought it was cool to see moissanite breaking into mainstream.

I never heard of asha or moissNite until I joined wedding bee! & I’m pretty sure no one I know knows what it is either.

@atreyu547: I don’t know a single person IRL who knows about it and I’ve never seen it. I kind of hope it becomes more mainstream so I can see it in person. I’d love some earrings!!

I had never heard of it prior to the Bee either! I’ve mentioned it IRL to people and they always give me the weirdest look like…what is that?

I love the comment that one woman made about moissanite being a religious group…ROFLOL….on WB it might be!

I had never heard of it before WB either. But then at Macy’s around Christmas time I was looking at jewelry and I overheard a sales associate offer customers a look at Moissanite. I was like youve heard of it?? hah

@IzzyBear: 20/20 did a “shopping trip” with moissanite back in 2007.

@IzzyBear: thanks for posting. Here is another article published last week that mentions moissanite,Federal Trade Commision rules on labeling, its actually in the JCK which is what jewelers read :

I was excited to see it getting some positive press. I love it!

I saw that article too – I’m glad the stone’s getting some press!

@gemgirl6: that’s good info but this thread was about articles being on a mainstream media source, not something that only jewelers read. We all know you love to give facts and “expose” moissanite but that has nothing to do with this article or thread.

@IzzyBear: Really great article! What is interesting is that 5 out of 10 picked / identified Moissy as a diamond and only one out of ten picked out diamond correctly. This coming from people without previous experience with Moissanite. There are so many threads on here about Moissy not looking diamond like but it seems that to those who are not as familiar with it as bees who have Moissy , it looks more like a diamond than the actual diamond does….
Also, LMAO at the comment that one woman thought Moissanite was a religious group…

Read the article. Wasn’t until WB that I learned of diamond-look alikes besides CZ. Interestibg thing though for a good while on here I thought Moissanite was still a natural stone. Now knowing Moissanites are also man made, synthetic stones turns me off on them.

@IzzyBear: None of my family knew what it was, and I didn’t until I came here. I am SO thankful I found this site, because I already know I’m going to love my moissanite once it’s set in my ering! I can’t wait to have my ring so I can educate people!
