Wow, Bees….what a difference! Thank you so much for your support as I’ve been venting about my husband’s and my need for counseling………Here is our update:
The session went well…most importantly, we both listened to the counselor and let him guide us, although he did let us hash some things out. But we’re making the commitment and investment in this! Together!
He suggested we sign up for a couples’ workshop, and my Darling Husband was on board–yay!!! He asked us when we’d like to meet next, we said next week, he gave us some homework–and my Darling Husband is on board for all of it. No complaints about the cost or anything.
On the way out to the car, he said, “Let me take you out for dinner.” Then we had the most relaxed and happy evening together in weeks….

@ddw:I’m sooo going to write that down! That’s really good advice!
To the OP: Very glad that the counselling was so great! Just the fact that your husband is willing to do this with you shows he’s a keeper.

That’s wonderful. My husband and I almost split because we were bad at communicating. We went to a counselor and 6 months later we got engaged. We started going out to dinner after our sessions and almost 2 years later we still go out every Tuesday night.

@cakegal, that is cute! I have a feeling “session days” are going to turn into “dinner out” days for us too! I know today we were mentally tired, hungry, and had headaches after. Lovely al fresco dinner and cocktail were so nice!
The other nice thing was that I actually felt like we got through to the other side of sometihng. After spending an allotted amount of time talking about the issues, dinner was SO relaxed to just laugh about other stuff, talk about our day, etc., without anything hanging over our heads. Like we had cleared something out and were a little more free.
thanks again so much for taking the time to reply when I was fretting…and now too!
