Sorry already married but when I didn't reach the minimum at my venue, the owner gave me one of the apps for free. That saved us at least $200 which was nice :)

That's great Somethingblue. Where abouts are you having your reception? I know location has a big thing to do with it. Like living in the big city (NYC or LA), inexpensive food is a near fantasy.
Yes and no. I've been comparing caterers and I've gotten $10 - $20 for the same exact meal. Unfortunately the venue that my fiance and I love (we haven't signed yet cause I'm apprehensive) is the one that is $20. That's $4,000 in food alone. And as crazy as it sounds I really didn't want to spend over 5k on the whole wedding. Yes I feel sick, but we're in love with the venue so there goes our budget. By the way the best thing is that our venue is $300 and includes all the tables, chairs, chair covers, china, napkins, table clothes that we need. :) I was thrilled with that but they get ya with that food. haha
@sweetlikcake- 100 per person is super ridiculous! I hope you find something better.
$500 for our venue, that allows any caterer you want and is wind-powered! And super beautiful.
Mine is $40.00 but I get Soooooooooooo much different things for that price.
That's awesome! We are budgeting about $15/pp, but we did get an amazing deal on our photog today: $500 total, $50 deposit and a 2nd photographer is only $300.
Yeah Ive gotten about $10-12pp but we are getting it for $8 since the caterer is fam. But depending on where you are at that can be a great deal!
Whoa, that's good. I wish that were the case for us! So far I haven't gotten ANY good deals. But I also haven't been ripped off so I won't complain :)

The best rating I have gotten is $10 pp, but we really want to do heavy apps so I am still waiting to hear back about that. I think it definitely depends on location as far as pricing goes.
We are having our wedding in Hastings, MI, (near Grand Rapids), at my FFIL's house. He lives in the country and has a huge piece of land with a pond, and a barn, and everything. It's really pretty.
The catering is from a fancy restaurant in town, we are having tacos/fajitas/nachos. I can't wait!
