We're for 10/10/09 too! I love seeing all my monthly twins, triplets, quadrupalets! We've been engaged for 1.5 years so it's finally nice to see things that are now relelvant!
Our colors are Robin egg blue and white/cream. All the planning is pretty much DONE! Just took it one thing at a time...and somehow I came up early with planning everything! I also wanted to save myself the last minute stress, that I always seem to impose on myself :)
Just booked the officiant and DJ today! Yay! Last real official thing to do is purchase (pretty much already picked out) BM dresses, choose a bakery for the cake (pretty much have the design in mind with a little alterations maybe here and there).
Yay, now gotta get crackalackin on the fitness part :)
I feel ya on the planning. My fiance and I were engaged on October 12, 2007 and we aren't getting married until October 11, 2009. We have venue, caterer, dj, bakery, my dress, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, centerpieces, favors, invites (one designed, just have to make the rest), and much more that I can't think of done. I was surprised how much we have been able to get done. I still have to do florist and officiant, though.
I am so excited to see all the other month twins here. October will be here before we know it!!!
Wow, you both are on the ball. Seeing how we are sharing a weekend, I appear to be the slacker (an indecisive one at that). I am finding that in the COLOR world, I like too many!! And with 10 months to go, i feel that if i narrow it down now, I will just end up changing them.... help! =)
@hisMrs what colors did you opt for?
@hirsche - We changed our colors several times, but we decided OFFICIALLY on fern green and gold for our colors. There are going to be several white accents (such as the flowers) as well. Don't worry if you don't have as much done... I SWEAR the only reason I have a lot done is because of how long our engagement has been. :)
Good luck on choosing your colors! That is definitely an exciting one.
Yay! We're getting married on 10/10/09 too! Hard to forget, right? We're doing a very casual beachy/river thing and our colors are chocolate, pear and ivory, with a whole bunch of natural/neutral elements as well. I have the venue booked, but it comes with a horribly unexperienced coordinator. Scary. I have friends doing hair, makeup and dj, so I was able to cross those off the list. I feel behind in the photographer department though. I actually emailed one that I found months ago and I'm biting my nails until I hear from him again. I hope he doesn't take a long weekend... I'll be nervous the entire time!
btw... When you tell people your wedding date, to they ALWAYS say, "oh, why don't you wait until 10/10/10?" C'mon, really people?
Good to see the Oct. brides are up and running again!
I am still working on my colors as well. Chocolate is in there but I also am liking a rusty/copper color.....hoping to make a decision soon.
Good luck!
I'm a 10/10/10 bride (the date just worked out like that, honestly). Our colors are apple green and chocolate brown, which I think is still a nice nod to our favorite season without being to theme-y. We're not really theme people...
ALSO, I attended my first bridal expo this weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find a cake designer willing to work with me this far out from the wedding. I am so sick of hearing vendors tell me to contact them "closer to time". I would think they would want the business/word of mouth for the duration of the engagement???
I'm yet another 10-10-09 bride! Our colors are chocolate brown, sage/leaf green, wheat, and ivory. We have a forest/nature theme goin'.
Despite my fiance's recent claim that we "don't have a lot left to do", we really do. That being said, I'm pretty pleased with how far along we are.
I have my dress, shoes & jewelry. I've selected my photographer, and we have a deposit down on our ceremony/reception venue. The 2 bridesmaids are each going to pick their own chocolate brown knee-length dresses so I don't need to worry about that one, other than maybe going shopping with them when they're in town, should they desire my company. My sister's making our favors - we just have to do a taste-test when she's in town later this month to decide what kind of truffles we're doing. Also, we've gone to one cake consultation so far.
i'm a 10.16.09 bride. today i met with and booked our florist, which was exciting. Next weekend we are having consultations with 3 bakeries, 2 photographers, an officiant and a dj. it's going to be a busy weekend, but i'm excited.
I am a 10/10/09 bride! yeah for October! We are using a deap purple for the BM dresses, but I am still thinking about flower ideas...any suggestions?
I’m a 10/11/09 bride! The venue, Photographer, DJ, cocktail pianist, and officiant have been booked. I’m still torn between the colors, I’m leaning towards red. Next step is to send out my save the dates.</font>
I was a 10/10/09 bride but our venue double booked so we had to change it so our new date is 10/03/09......We have a venue, caterer, photographer, dress, DIY'ing the flowers, cake and invitations done so far. Our colors are choc brown, coral and ivory. Are there any other 10/03 brides out there?
Hi October brides! I have a question...I'm October 11, which is a Sunday, but on the holiday weekend. I'm now panicked that people aren't going to want to dance/stay late because it's a Sunday, even if they have Monday off...what do you guys think? Thanks!
I'm October 11th as well. Since most people do not have Columbus Day off, we are assuming that people will take off pretty early. I think we are having our reception end at about 9:30 or 10. That way, my hubby and I can enjoy our first night together too. :) Good luck with planning! :)
Yay October brides! I am 10/4/09 which is a Sunday. We came across a really cool place (www.freedomhall.com) that includes the outdoor ceremony site, reception site, caterer, DJ, open bar (no hard alcohol, but beer and champagne) and the cake company for a party of 100 people. So I thought that would be such relief to have all that taken care of, but it still seems like I have a ton left to do.
We just booked our photographer. I need to have the BM's fitted for their dresses and figure out suit colors for the GM's. Need an officiant which I think will be the hardest thing since we aren't religious and don't know anyone and then the color and flower selection will be hard. The main color will be Cobalt Blue, but don't know what the accent color will be. At least we sent the save-the-date magnets out and got great feedback from those. It's a start....![]()
I'm 10/10/09 too! Our colors are light blue, red, and apple green. It's a woodsy affair and we are almost all booked. It came so fast! We just went to our venue for a wine tasting last weekend with all the other couples that are getting married in the summer/fall. We had to wear name tags with our names (obviously) and our wedding date. We got so stares and glares for our date! I guess 10/10/09 is a swanky date:) Yay Coumbus day weekend brides!
Hellooo October Brides!!! I'm 10-16-09 (10-10 was booked). I am so blessed not to be drowning in the plans because my Mom and MOH are on top of things. I just tell them my likes and dislikes and the go from there. Just having a hard time landing on BM dresses. I want somthing classy but sexy. My dress is Mermaid style, form fitting, so I don't want frumpy BMs. Any Suggestions Ladies? BTW my BMs range from size 0 to 24! (that does make it bit more difficult don't you think?)
@tallgrl I decided to go for a more traditional bridal bouquet, but my bmaid dresses are aubergine (eggplant, dark purple) and my girls will have purple lisianthius, purple iris, a cream colored roses in their bouquets, possibly with another small lavendar colored flower that I can't seem to remember...it looks like a mini daisy. Check out Miss Seabreeze and Miss D'Orsay for inspiration. I was disappointed at the number of dark purple options there are for fall, but I think it will turn out nicely. There's also the eggplant calli lilly.
I'm a 10-03-09 bride. Can't believe it is coming so quickly now!! Going shopping this Monday for my dress. Keep your fingers crossed that goes well!! We are doing pretty good on the planning so far. Found my BM dresses a couple of months ago while we were shopping for my mom and FMIL. My aunt is making our cake, our friend is doing our photos, already booked ceremony and reception site. Starting to put together our DIY invitations now. The big things left to do are find a DJ, rent tuxes, get flowers for my bouquet and decorations. I'm feeling pretty good about everything. Now ask me in a few more months and who knows. Good luck to all October brides, hope planning is going good for you!!
i can't believe with all these October weddings I have yet to find a twin.... OCTOBER 23,2009 !! 7 Months to go!! <3
Yay October! Since my wedding isn't untill 2010, I'm at the brainstorming phase, but I can't see to come up with ANY color scheme ideas. We were first thinking navy and orange but my sister and mother are very vocal about how much they hate the idea of the color scheme, and since I'm not married to the colors, I'd rather come up with something else than fight over it. I LOVE fall, have always wanted a fall wedding but I don't want my BMs in red or orange dresses. The only thing I do know I want is gerbera daisies. Other than that, I haven't seen any color scheme that "speaks" to me. And my MOH is very opinionated about colors. We were just browsing through BM dresses the other weekend and I would say, "oh this is a nice color" and get a disgusted look from her (about chocolate/latte browns) and she and my mother HATE the thought of a burnt orange. I want to stick to fall colors...but what's a girl to do? help!
Bridezilla2009: I was thinking the same thing for my date, I haven't seen a date twin for October 9 yet either!
My wedding is October 24, 2009!!! I am obviously a slacker because I have only nailed down the ceremony and reception site so far. I have picked out my colors...apple green, chocolate, Bordeaux, and shades of orange. I love love love fall but don't want to do the prototypical "fall" theme wedding. I need to go dress shopping badly but really really wish i could shed about 10 pounds before trying any on :-( Here are my final ideas on color, flowers, cake, etc...with a few shots of the wedding location (vineyard/winery)
10/24/09 bride here!! I still need to nail down a caterer and dj, and all the many little projects that we have going on!! I hope we all can keep up with posting for moral support. Vegasbaby, why don't you ask your girls what colors they like the most out of the fall colors?? Obviously, the final decision is up to you, but maybe having a chat with them will help you decide on a color scheme
I'm October 11 also...I had NO IDEA that Columbus Day was the day after! Now I'm wondering if I should be worried...
Our colors are navy, cranberry and orange. We only have the groomsmen and my FI's clothes taken care of, and then venue. So much left to do!
October 2nd bride here. Our colors are a deep pink and gold/champagne. So excited! All the big stuff is done, now i'm just waiting for summer to get here to do the rest!
October 11th bride also! I chose the 11th for financial reasons (Venues seem to be cheaper on Fridays and Sundays). Our colors are Chocolate, Latte, and Ivory.
We finalized our menu and we have a potential bakery in mind. Our DJ and photographer are my fiance's fraternity brothers and are giving us a great deal. As for attire, I just paid for my dress yesterday (whoo hoo!) and my bridesmaids are in the process of being measured for their dresses. The groom and groomsmen have made a decision (finally) regarding their tuxes and I just picked out the flower girl dresses.
We are making our own crystal wedding trees from scratch so we will be finishing those some time late summer. Now just have to see to all the smaller details that creep up on you without your realizing it!! LOL
Congrats to all my October twins out there!
10/9/10 Bride here. I've actually already got the church, reception venue, and DJ. The weekend after we got engaged (2/14/09) I had booked the DJ at a bridal show. We know who we are going to get the flowers from (friend of my mom) so we really don't have any planning to do at the moment. A friend of ours (who is a graphic design artist) is doing our invitations and such, what a awesome wedding gift! :)
It seems SOOOO far away, but everyone keeps telling me that it will be here before I know it.
10/11/09 here, too!
We actually chose a Sunday because (since we're both in showbiz!), we are holding the ceremony in an off-off-broadway theater and we have to work around their performance schedule!
Getting excited and shocked at how quickly it's coming up!
10-31-09 here. I'm not doing a Halloween theme however. I am thinking of a Fall theme however to help keep decorating costs down. I have most of my vendors, however I still haven't picked my colors. I'm thinking Eggplant and I don't know what else.
10/10/09 bride checkin' back in.
We have our ceremony/reception site, our photographer, our DJ, our caterer, my makeup artist, my hair stylist, my dress and all of my accessories, some of our centerpiece materials, my bouquet is made, we've practiced making the other bouquets, I've had my bridal portraits taken (waaaay in advance), and save-the-dates have been sent.
Now I need to make invitations, find an officiant, finish gathering things for centerpieces, make some other decorative items, pick out tuxes for the boys, pre-make boutennieres, write vows, choose music and make table numbers/placecards. I think everything's going wonderfully. How're everyone else's plans progressing?
hi there!!!
I am a 10/17/09 bride!!!! We have just about everything (vendor wise), just now getting the details and DIY done! We are FINALLY taking our engagement pictures next weekend!!! I am so excited to be getting married in October, although I feel like it is never going to come!!
Whooo!!! Awesome October! I'm 10.10.09! We're off to Fabulous Las Vegas, with the theme is Retro Runaway; we were going to elope, but people found our and will be joining us apparently! Colors are blues, down to the blue suede shoes in the Graceland Chapel! It should be an absolute ball!!
Dress is chosen, and modifications are being discussed. Invites are chosen, and everything is moving right along!
(Waves HI to others)!
10.10.09 here!! Colors are Black/Fuschia/White - Damask theme being worked in.
What do I have done? Hmmm, considering the fact that I just decided about 1 1/2 months ago that we were getting married on that date, not a whole lot, really.
-We're having the wedding/reception at our friends' house, so venue is set. YAY!!
-My friend is a photographer, so her gift to us will be pictures!! YAY!!
-Bought my DIY invitations/response cards, along with my decorative stuff for them.
-I've made my save the dates. Just need to be addressed and sent.
-Bought pretty much all of my stuff for my centerpieces.
-Will be going out to look at dresses tomorrow. (Hate dresses, NOT thrilled about it.)
Wow, now that I am looking at my little list, I better get a move on things!!
Can you believe October is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER?!
jezzy, October isn't far away is it? FI wanted to know why I freaked out after we chose the date (2 weeks ago); 4 1/4 months isn't very long in wedding-years! Deadlines, people!
October seems so far away when you've been engaged for almost a year already!:) 10/10/09 outside DC in VA here! We are both Hokies (Virginia Tech grads/fanatics) and our wedding colors are burgundy, orange, ivory and gray. We have our venues, florist, photographer, DJ priest, most of the main things. My older sister/MOH1 are making our invities on her Gocco which should be an adventure! I have my dress and got my AMAZING orange slingback peep toes today!! Still need to figure out favors and other small details. Any good ideas for favors all you fall brides?:)
Hiii. I'm so thrilled to be getting married in October. There is not one person who doesn't have a story about someone having their wedding in October, and they go on to tell me how its the best month ever to be married in. It's actually really funny. Everyone and their mom goes on and on about how much they love this month.
I just really love our day: October 24th ... it sounds so lovely to me. I love hearing it and I love saying it.
I just put all the finishing touches on the dress, it's custom and being handmade overseas. I just had to finish a couple details that I had a hard time deciding on.
No, Karma, it's not. So far though, I'm doing good about keeping level headed. All I can do is pray to God for patience and hit the ground running every morning that I wake up.
I have to admit though, I can't concentrate at work!! ALL I can think about is wedding stuff.
