My DH's cousin is getting married in June to her HS sweetheart.  His aunt asked us this weekend if we'd be "hosts" at there wedding - I have no clue what that is - anybody else know?

Anyway, I also asked her about their plans for a shower and offered to throw one for them.  Now I need ideas - they're pretty down to earth, she's a vet tech and he's in nursing school.  He likes hunting and cars and she's totally into animals and concerts.

She didn't know of anyone else who was throwing them a shower - so I can I do a theme or should I just do a normal shower?

Any ideas would be great!  Thanks!

Hm, I don't know what a "wedding host" is.  Maybe like a DOC of sorts, making sure everything is going smooth and on time?  I would just ask what she is looking for from you.

As for themes, I love a good theme!  For a joint shower, you could do a "favorite things" theme.  Have their favorite colors, drinks, food, music and them, since I am sure they are each others favorite people.  Or a high school theme with their school colors?

If it's a female only shower, the themes are endless!  How fun!!

My step-mom is going a bit of the favorites route with my shower. The centerpieces are supposed to be little gift baskets for things we would like. Like a dog basket, a baking basket, a Detroit Tigers basket. They are so much more practical as prizes than a potted violet (no offense to violets, but I don't think guys will care for them much.)

I like the favorite things idea and I really like the idea of doing baskets for prizes rather than the flowers - it'll get more of the guys involved.
