- Wedding: September 2013 - Creek club at ion, SC
So I am finally Mrs W and sooo happy!! All the headache and stress was worthfit and not a lot went to plan but it was perfect!!
Firstly, a bit of background for those who dont know. Im an English girl who went to Spain and ended up falling in love with an American there. We live there for two years before deciding to move back to the USA and get married at a destination wedding in SC (FI from different state). So we decided for a year to separate and do long distance while he got things together in the states and I waited for my K1 visa.
We set the wedding date for September 12th. Over 2 years in advance. the visa would come in july, absolute latest beginning of August according to our lawyers. Family booked plane tickets, vendors were paid off and there was still no visa. A week before the weddding his grandmother was diagnosed with cancer which stopped so much obviously. To cut a long story short on the 10th September I was outside the US embassy in Spain crying and begging for them to give me my visa. It worked and I was on a plane the 11th.Then I was grilled at immigration and missed my connecting flight. I was then told the next flight would be the next day after wedding. So then I rang my already stressed Fiance who was just told by my vendor that they hadnt taken payments for some reason and if we didnt get cash to them by 5pm the wedding is off, that I missed my flight.
In the end his wonderful best man got me another flight which had me in before midnight. I was there!! But no stopping there, we had to get up super early in the morning get marriage licence, the flowers my husband hadnt picked up due to dealing with vendors and the sound system!!!! Also all the DJ Ipod songs we had planned had disappeared. Our bridal party was fantastic, they got it all together and the groomsmen managed to sort music which was better than my mix. The food was amazing the venue, despite the problems, was gorgeous. Everyone had an amazing time. Grandmother cancer had not spread, was removed and she was diagnosed cancer free!! 🙂
We then spent extra time in SC with family and friends and had an amazing time – Ive never seen my mum so happy!! Then we drove down to OK (17 hours) where we will now live and are setting up house.
Later, we got sneak peaks from our amazing gorgeous photographer Bri McDaniels who was the most understanding vendor ever and really worked with us, putting in the extra mile and doing things she really didnt have to do. She caught moments and was so discreet. I know the rest of our photos will be amazing but here is one I absollutely love.
