I'm so excited! With this year's tax return and the current savings I have, I will be COMPLETELY credit card debt free by the end of the month, with my car being paid off in sight! :) My car. is down to $3000, and my goal is to be car payment free by my birthday, 8/27!
2012 is my year!!!
What are you doing with your tax return?
YAY! That's awesome!
I dont have any plans in particular with a tax return... if I get a return, it'll end up going into savings though.
We're good savers so we like to use the returns for fun. This year we bought a new TV (nothing too extravagant) and will use the rest for a vacation in spring/summer.
We are using ours for the fun little extras at the wedding :)
Yayyy! :-)
We will also be debt free! We only have around 900 dollars in credit debt & are paying it off completely!
Then for our own useage, my husband bought a crotch rocket (bike!) It was preowned so we got a great deal on it & my husband got his permit to drive it just this week!
I am getting a sectional couch or living room suite! SO EXCITED about that! :-)
I'm using it for the wedding :-) It certainly gave me a healthy cushion for deposits and whatnot!
@sleepingbeauty88: using it for the wedding...really wished I would used it to go away but that will have to wait for our honeymoon
I'll be buying my wedding dress haha. I have the money to buy it without my tax return, but I hate seeing such a large sum leave my account lol
@mwitter80: OH no that's terrible! Next year will hopefully be different *wink wink*
@sleepingbeauty88: That's awesome!
We're using ours to get ready for our little one! We've:
I'm excited!
I'm going to pay off my car. It's scheduled to be finished on April 7, but I'm going to make it a little bit cheaper by not having to pay that extra interest. I'll have plenty left over, but I'm not sure what I'll do with the rest. Some for rent and bills and then I'll have a nice cushion of safety money.
I am hoping for money back this year!!! Last year I got back only 200 but the year before I got back 0.01 lol one penny!!!! Love it
We actually got a refund this year, woohoo! I'm not sure what we are doing with it. We save 50% of any additional money (bonuses, gifts, etc.) DH has had his eye on a new pistol, so being the amazing, perfect wife that I am (wink, wink!) I'm going to urge him to splurge!
Paying off some of our student loan debt and mostly in our savings account
we agreed that both last year's return and this year's return will go into the wedding fund. it seems to eat everything it comes across.
next year: paying down a chunk of my student loans and/or adding to a down payment for a new car. wooo
I am absolutely putting 50% of it into my savings... and the rest will probably go to pay off my credit card haaaaaa...
Our employers actually take adequate deductions, so our tax returns are usually pretty measley, like less than a hundred bucks... I know it's pretty much just an interest free loan to the government so it's actually a good thing, but sometimes I still wish we got a little surprise.
It will go for wedding stuff most likely--if I ever get it! Work faster IRS!
@Mrs.Estep: Aww! Someone after my own heart. I LOVE getting new furniture. My SO even bought me a new dining room table and chairs for my 23rd birthday last year! Best gift to date!
@mwitter80: & @Aure: I'm sorry :( That stinks. If it makes you feel any better, the only reason I get anything back is because of the tuition I pay during the year. If it wasn't for that, I'd be close to getting zilch or owing as well I think.
@amnystik: That's so exciting! I've always been interested in a home birth. Hope everything goes smoothly for you and is a wonderful experience. Congratulations :)
@Sutaru: Any thing in particular? Pictures?
Unfortunately we won't be doing anything fun with ours. Just saving! Hopefully we'll use a little bit of it towards a getaway weekend sometime this summer.
Nothing since we are going to owe lol. I really try not to get money back but with our incomes changing this year, we ended up owing more than I expected.
It's going straight into the wedding fund! Any extra money after the wedding goes to the house downpayment fund, haha. I'm very exciting... :-/
Oh my goodness! Congratulations on paying down your debt! You should be so proud.
I'm not sure how much we'll get back, but we'll probably use it toward my husband's student loans, savings, and maybe one date night. :)
We decided no matter how much we each got, that we would throw it all in together and then divide it out. The wedding is getting half, our honeymoon is getting 1/4 and then we are splitting what is left. It ends up at about $460 for me. I should pay off my measley sudent loan that's left but instead I'm using it to help pay for my/my cousins joint bachelorette parties in Cancun!
Between the tax return and 3 paychecks in March (I do our budget based on me getting paid twice, but twice a year I get three in a month) my husband and I will FINALLY have a decent amount in savings so I'll be able to stop stressing about something else going wrong (Thanks flooding basement for wiping us out earlier in the year).
Since we did so I well I did get a little spendy this weekend while at work, and bought $80 worth of dog accessories (leash / collar / harness etc) and a Michael Kors bag and watch for myself. I have since grounded myself from spending anymore, it is way too easy to go overboard!
I'm putting it toward a cheap laptop. Mine finally bit the dust and I just need something to surf on so I figure I can get that with a good $350-500.
For the past 3 years we have always used our tax returns for a week long vacation somewhere tropical (including our honeymoon) but since we combined incomes he bumped me up a tax bracket and we are only getting back what I used to get back by myself waaa! We will probably throw it in savings.
I am buying my wedding dress (today!) buying the kiddos their new bunk bed, paying down some debt, Paying for my weekend away, Saving for wedding, Saving for wedding im in this summer, and a few other things

We didn't get too much back this year. We were going to buy a nursery set for our July baby, but instead we just paid a deposit on an apartment today! Moving at the end of April:D
Ours is going towards very un-fun stuff like getting new car tires and fixing a rockchip in the car window.
No more tax returns for me. :( DH will be using me as write-off for the farm from now on.
