Hi fellow bees!
This is one of my first posts on the website – I’m so excited to share this experience with all of you fabulous ladies!!!
I’ve taken a glance at a few things on the site and all of you have such great advice! Thanks in advance because I’m sure I’ll need it, lol! I’m a very indecisive person, so having a place like this to share all of my wedding info is perfect for me. So anyway… here’s the beginning of my wedding journey …
My Fi proposed to me on Sunday, April 17th. We were supposed to go down the shore to my favorite beach (even though it was still chilly out), but a huuuge rainstorm came and took over the whole weekend. So, we stayed home and said to ourselves – well, if the weather is nice enough on Sunday, maybe we’ll go on a hike. Sunday came along and I stayed in my pajamas until about 12 noon, then started doing my taxes on Turbo Tax (that were due the next day!). I was annoyed that I had to spend any time on the weekend doing my taxes, and particularly bitter that I was hardly getting any money back, when Fi says in his most eager, happy voice, “ok hunny, let’s go for that hike!” Reluctantly, and tiredly I showered and got dressed (no makeup, 2nd day curly hair – not typical of myself!!) and we went to Boston Market to pick up some lunch on our way to the park. We ended up in a town that wasn’t the best neighborhood, but turned a corner that led us to what is considered a national park. We drove up a steep hill lined with cherry blossom trees, and in front of me the sun was shining and I saw a castle! Seriously! lol. I was just amazed that in the middle of nowhere there was this beautiful landmark. So we ate at a picnic table then wandered off to tour the outside of the castle. My Fi said to me, “hunny let’s go up those stairs and take a look at the view.” Of course I had to stop at a port-o-potty, then take some more pictures, and finally we took our walk up to the highest balcony of the castle. We sat on a bench and started talking about our friends’ upcoming destination wedding in Aruba. Fi says, “maybe that trip can be our honeymoon.” I just brushed it off, started laughing and say what I usually said when he made a reference to us getting married, “yeah where’s the ring?! as I give him my best Beyonce “then you shoulda put a ring on it” hand-flip impression…
But this time, instead of him telling me to put my hand down, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!! I started hysterically laughing and kept saying “no way” and “you’re joking, right?” and “this is totally unexpected,” you get my drift… So, then we went for our hike and I was almost completely silent the whole time because of my shock I was in. We had never looked at rings or talked about a time frame to get engaged/married – and even though I had no manicure (for my ring picture, of course), dirty hair, and there was no champagne on the beach – I couldn’t imagine a more perfect proposal!
That was a great day and I’m SOO excited to plan our wedding!
