i’m planning to take the birth control pills for my acne issues. besides all the side effects that my doctor has informed me of about taking birth control, has yaz worked for anyone? i hear it’s the first fda approved acne clearing bcp.
btw- Ortho tri-cyclen LO made me break out like crazy. i was on it for about 3-4 months and i broke out all over my chin and jawline. it was terrible. the day i stopped taking the pill, i have a 24 headache/migrane that almost killed me. i would not recommend that for anyone who has skin issues.

i’ve been wondering the same thing! can’t wait to see the response…

Yaz was a fail for me. But then again, so were most hormonal bc methods. My skin was mediocre while on it (not much change), but it was the hysterical crying at everything that made me quit taking it. Everyone is different though.

I’ve never taken Yaz, but I’ve taken Yasmin for the past couple of years. My face normally has a tendency to break out, but since I’ve been taking the Yasmin, my face has been clear. I haven’t had any bad side effects from it….no crazy PMS or weird side effects.

I take Yaz and I haven’t had any major breakouts in 3 years! The only time I get some (and by some I’m talking like…3) is right around my time of the month! One of the side effects that got me the worst was weight gain! I’ve gained about 15-20 pounds since I started taking it.

It’s amazing how different people react differently to hormonal birth control. I hope it works for you. According to population statistics, acne should improve on Yaz, but that’s an average… not for an individual.

Yaz has been amazing for me! I tried Oth-Tri-Lo too and I would get big breakouts along my chin and jaw. I then tried Yasmin, but it made my boobs huge and I still got breakouts. So now I’ve been on Yaz for over a year and I LOVE IT. I hardly have any breakouts, my periods are short, and I actually get complicated on my skin for the first time in my life. Do be aware that it’s made me gain about 7 pounds, but I’d rather have that then really bad skin.
Of course, these are always different on different people. Be sure to give it about four months to work its fullest – that’s how long it took me. My acne actually got worse at first, but give it four months for your system to get used to it!

Yaz made me an emotional mess, no fun. But Yasmin was wonderful for my skin it was so clear I didn’t wear any makeup at all! Unfortunately it did nothing for the killer cramps and I ended up having to go to a higher hormone level. I miss Yasmin if nothing for my skin being clear

Yasmin worked well for my acne, and ortho tri cyclin low also made me break out like crazy!
Unfortunately I had to stop taking BC last month because of medical complications. Which really sucks!

I started Yaz (my Derm office gets samples) last month to move my period around for the wedding. I and many other Derms have been prescribing Yaz’s active "acne" ingredient for years. It primarily helps with the big cystic hormonal breakouts. You can get the active "acne" ingredient Spironolactone from your Dermatologist without the progesterone/estrogen component as well.

Ick. Yaz (for me) was a nightmare on all fronts–I was an emotional basketcase, I broke out worse than when I was a teenager, and my periods were wonky. I’ve been on lo-ogesteral for about 2 years now and have no problems. However, I have to add that I was on Accutane for really, really (did I mention really) bad acne all over for the latter part of high school, and I think that that contributes more than anything. If you truly have serious acne, something like this or something less harsh can come from your dermatologist.

- Wedding: September 2008 - A tiny town just outside of Glacier National Park
I’ve been on Yaz for 9+ months and it’s working great for my skin. However, it does take a few months (they say to give it three) for your body to adjust to the hormones enough that you really start seeing skin benefits.
I switched to Yaz after 2 years with a copper (ParaGard) IUD that left me with horrible moods, heavy periods, and hormonal acne. Yaz is why my skin looked good at the wedding! Err, that, and the fact that I’m good at doing my own makeup. 😀

Yaz did great things for my skin, but KILLED my sex drive. (Sorry if that was TMI). So just a heads up on that. Talk to your doc about Sprintec (the generic is called Mononessa). I really like it. 🙂

Yasmin was great for me, I switched to Yaz breifly but didn’t like it – I know I felt different and I found the cycle very hard to understand – I only had periods for 1-2 days max on Yasmin, and Yaz’s timing just felt very…odd?…. to me

I was on Yazmin and it was absolutely horrible! I was extremely moody, gained 20 pounds, my period was very heavy and I had the worst cramps of my life. BUT my face looked great 🙂 I obviously didn’t stay on the pill, but I wish you a much better experience then I had.
