@Nona99:  Well, on the one hand, you’re so fun, I could envision you and Mr. 99 doing this. On the other hand, I think of you as incredibly glamorous, so I kind of want to see you with an amazingly glamorous vow renewal. 🙂

I feel like you’d have to be super excited about having a Renaissance wedding to get past all of the cons you mentioned in your post. The heat and dust don’t sound ideal, but I kinda think having dogs around would be kinda cool, ha. Personally, I’m too private a person to have random strangers wandering in and out of my ceremony.

ETA: For an all inclusive vow renewal, what about a cruise to Alaska? It’s still elope-ish but not quite the same. Unless that’s what you did for your original elopement.

@Nona99:  You know, I can sooo relate to that! Since I am no longer working, we don’t have the expendable funds to do anything quite so exciting right now. However, we marked four years of marriage this year, and it has been a hard road for us as well. You (and most of the Hive) already know my story of commuting, relocation, stepchildren, insane schedules, etc.  That, plus all of the normal adjusting required when two people decide to merge their worlds into one has involved a lengthy, challenging journey for us, but I am SO thankful that we are so much happier now than we were during the bulk of our first four years. I would LOVE to do a vow renewal, just the two of us somewhere beautiful on a beach or something. 🙂

I hope you and Mr. 99 find an idea that you both adore!

Do it!!! Get a gorgeous dress and one of those cool flower wreaths to go in your hair.

I didn’t do a Renaissance wedding, but I did so a Renaissance engagement session.

It was super hot (95 in August), dirty, dusty – but so much fun. We wanted to do our wedding there but stopped short of doing our wedding at the NYS Tuxedo Renaissance Faire because we have lots of family traveling from afar, and there were no nearby airports and only a few limited hotels.

@Nona99:  I think it’s great, if the renaissance festival is something your family does every year!

I love the Renaissance Festival!  I’ve been to one in Colorado and it was very similar to the one they have here.  Downsides are definitely the dust and dirt and maybe not having any changing rooms.  So I’d make sure to wear a dress you don’t mind getting a little dirty.  Sounds fun!  The one here often has better temperatures by the end of it since it ends in October.  It can be really hot the first weekend because it is still late August.

I just love the Renaissance Festival so based on that alone I would do it!
