Go for the yellow gold, diamonds look beautiful set in yellow gold, I love yellow gold, and while I wear other jewellery, for my engagement ring I only wanted yellow gold. Perhaps have the main part in yellow gold and the prongs in platinum to really set it off?

Some people say that yellow gold will reflect in a diamond and make it look yellow, but I have found only the opposite to be true! It seems like it’s only people who don’t like yellow gold who say that. Every yellow gold ring I’ve seen, the diamond looks super white because it contrasts with the metal. Definitely go for it!

@NatureBride2015:  But I adore yellow gold and only wear it. Every time I see a yellow gold ring, I get SO happy, and don’t feel the same way about white gold and platinum.

Um hello?! Your answer is right here! You should definitely get what you love, and not listen to what other people like. I would do the prongs in platinum though, for durability and color reasons.

Can’t wait to see the finished product!

@NatureBride2015:  I think from your response to the photo you have your answer!  It looks great and you love it, that’s all you need!  Congrats!

@Holocene:  This is how I feel about my ring. It was an heirloom to my FI, so I can’t see ever resetting it. I love the meaning that came with it, even if I have never been a fan of yellow gold. It has definitely grown on me and now I love it.

@NatureBride2015:  Looks like you have made your choice! You gotta go with your heart. 🙂 I do support the idea of getting the prongs in platinum or white gold to prevent the (imaginary) yellowness.

PS, here is my yellow gold ring:
