I’m looking for a more yellow-toned but fair liquid foundation. currently im using revlon colorstay but all the shades are either too-dark-yellow, or light-pink. Can you suggest some foundations with actual yellow undertone? I need one for my wedding day and dont want to have a different face color in all my photos…i gave up on being cost effective too.. 🙁 medium-to-full coverage would be good!

If you’re looking for a good foundation that is widely available, is offered in a wide range of skin-tone shades, and is inexpensive, try Loreal True Match liquid foundation in the lightest W shade. The product, which comes in a range of W (warm) N (neutral) and C (cool) shades, is available at most major big-box and drug store chains. You can apply it as lightly as you desire or for as much coverage as you need.

@Brielle: thanks! but i thought W meant warm, as in pink tones?

Bobbi Brown have yellow based foundations

@MrsBtoBe14: Actually, warm foundations have yellow undertones, and cool foundations have pink undertones.
Since I subsequently noticed that you said you’ve given up on being cost-effective, I think your best bet would be to visit the make-up counter at a major department store such as Nordstrom, or to go to Sephora, where a make-up consultant can help you to determine your skin type and test a variety of different foundations along your jaw line to see which shades will best match your skintone.

I find these foundations have the ability to morph to your undertones and have done awesome things for my skin: http://www.vapourbeauty.com/face/Vapour-Organic-Beauty-Atmosphere-Luminous-Foundation.asp
ETA: I have yellow undertones, but rosy pink cheeks/flush really easiliy. I use the 115 and it always looks right.

go to a sephora or a nordstrom, or even macy’s. they can match you to a foundation.
drugstore foundations are hard to match unless you buy a couple and just test them out. i have pale-ish skin, and i can never find any color that matches. when i’m super pale, everything is too dark. when i’m tanner, the pale stuff doesn’t work and i have to mix colors. it’s not fun.
bare minerals is my “splurge” foundation. i can find a perfect match in their foundations (original loose powder, not the pressed ones) no matter what level of tan or pale i’m at (:

I am fair with slight yellow undertones, and Smashbox foundation or BB cream work well for me. If you have stronger yellow undertones, a line that is designed for ladies of Asian heritage may work well for you. Shu Uemura would be a good line to start with.

@MrsBtoBe14: neutrogena healthy skin has a lighter shade that has a yellow tone. i use the pink light tone because i have pink undertones, but they make a yellow one too (i know because i accidentally bought that one first) 😉

@MrsBtoBe14: I’ve found that mid-high end foundations have much better availability of yellow undertones than drugstore foundations do. NARS, MakeUpForEver, and Lancome are lines that I’ve tried that have good yellow undertones. MAC does too, but I can’t stand their foundations.
I’ve also heard of people warming their drugstore foundations up a little with Ben Nye Banana powder.
Usually, “warm” means yellow/yellow-peach undertones, except with MAC, when “cool” means yellow undertones.

Bobbi Brown’s known for her yellow-toned foundations – some would complain that they’re too yellow but I’m Asian and decidedly yellow, so I love them. 😛
You can also try any of the O shades by Shiseido, and I’ve also heard good things about shu uemura. I think some of the Chanel foundations also have a yellow set, but I can’t remember the numbering…maybe the ones that end in 0?

MAC Pro-Long Wear liquid in its NC (not NW) range is extremely yellow undertoned. to echo another poster, i too usually dislike MAC foundations but this one actually performs similarly to Revlon Colorstay, especially when set with powder.

It’s worth it to spend your money to buy good foundation. I am partial to Clinique because I am very pale but not porcelain so it’s difficult for me to find drugstore foundation that isn’t too orange or too porcelain. I try to buy my foundation during bonus time so I also get free mascara, lotion, blush, lipstick/lipgloss, and eyeshadow. Then I supplement with eyeshadow and eyeliner from ELF and NYC at Walmart/Target.

I have light, cool-toned skin but with yellow undertones…apparently this is typical for lineage from northern Italy. I can only wear MAC foundations to avoid the “peach face”. If you have a MAC location near you, they will help you out and test all the various coverages on you! Hope that helps!
