The venue I booked has yellow walls and is a glorified basement, so the lighting is yellowish as well. I need help picking flower colors! The room needs brightening and I want to take away from all the yellow.

I think lots of colors go nicely with yellow. What about blue flowers? Or, if you’re worried about color overload, white flowers might be a nice match. I think daisies are always a nice option- they come in a good variety of colors!

I was thinking about white- but I think that white would be too bland especially since there isn;t any natural sunlight.
And I also thought about blue– but blue is very limiting in flower options. Not many come in blue.
I attached a picture of the room (looks good for a basement, doesn’t it?). Help! What goes??
Gosh, I hope I;m not turning into a Bridezilla all of a sudden over flowers and colors!

I love the Daisy idea. You could always put the daisy in nice blue vases. Nice glass ones. I think that would be beautiful. But there are a lot of colors that look great with yellow. You could use reds and oranges-like big sunflowers. I love the look of the red sunflowers. I dunno. Could you go to a paint store and get a swatch of color, then go to a flower shop? Maybe that would help..

On the bright side (yay morning puns), yellow is a cheerful color. Will you be having the space fully lit or will you be having more ambiance lighting? I think you could use pretty much any color for flowers and it would perk up the space, because they’re, well, flowers. Will you be having colored tablecloths? That could change the feel of the space more than flowers, I think.
You could go for purple flowers like irises and lilacs, which are a cool color and on the opposite end of the color spectrum from yellow. That would have a balancing effect. Purple isn’t hard to find in flowers. 🙂

Honestly, from the pictures I think the yellow will fade into the background as long as you do a color. A black and white wedding might not work in that space, but I think any color other than that would work fine. If you want to have a large variety of flowers to choose from, reds, oranges, and pinks would all work well. Think colors of the sunrise- and the yellow will blend right in. Or if you wanted to do something like greens and purples, they would probably pop well against the yellow.
So yeah, I would just go with what you love and not worry too much about basing your decisions around the color of the walls.

Thanks, you’re making me feel more relaxed about it. Such stupid little things to worry about!
I’m leaning towards:
1- purples and pinks, lots of green
3- sunflower and daisies
Now my man and I just have to make it until August because we have not been getting along the past week! Perhaps why I’m freaking out over flowers…its easier than freaking out over our relationship!

@mmuncha- I do that too. When I’m stressed out about something else, I find some little wedding detail to fixate on, lol. (lately it’s been my dress…) Good luck with everything, and I’m sure whatever you choose will be beautiful.
