    Hi bees!

So I wasn't going to wear a veil...I wanted to go with a orchid in my short hair and keep it at that.  But now that I'm home visiting my parents, my mother just dropped the bomb on me that she really wants me to wear a veil.  Now I'm in the market for a veil and have no idea where to start!  So where did you guys get your veils?  Esty, DB's, online, made your own? Any opinions on where to start? I know places like David's Bridal and such have them, but I wanted to know where you went!  I'd want something really simple and moderately priced...any opinions would be great!

Well, what does your dress look like?  It helps to start there sometimes :)  Do you have a picture?

I would get one from etsy.  You can get them there pretty cheap.  I would wear it just for the ceremony and then wear your flower for the reception!

Yeah, if you post your dress, we can get a better idea of what will work with it!  I haven't been planning on wearing a veil, but my dad practically had a coronary when I mentioned I wanted to wear a headband or a hair flower...so my decision is back up in the air as well.

If you can, I recommend going to a bridal shop and trying out different veils with your dress to see what kind you like the best.  Be sure to ask about fullness, length, and cut of the veil.  A number of brides have gotten their veils from occanseydesigns.com and I've heard good things about them and they have good prices.  You can get whatever kind of veil you want and they have a fast turnaround.  I haven't picked a veil yet but when I do I'm going to order from them.

Thanks ladies! Right, a dress picture would be helpful, wouldn't it?!

It's in ivory and this is probably the best pic I have of it that shows the side detail of it.  My mom doesn't like cage veils, which is what I was going to go with if I had to have one...so now I'm thinking a shoulder length one? I have no idea!

Do you have any sellers on Etsy you'd recommend? I've fallen in love with Etsy lately...they have amazing stuff on there.  I think we might have our invitations designed through a seller there.

@mandalynn - isn't it funny how our parents expect those things? I think it's cute, hehe.  I guess it's that traditional part that they've always dreamed of and want fufilled...but I'm happy to do it.  Wasn't in my plan, but yes I can just take the veil off after the ceremony like MissAsB recommended!

Same here: mom wanted it, I decided I would wear it for the ceremony then take it off .. maybe something like these if you want a more modern veil?

those are great options, thanks peanut! I didn't know you could get a veil like that, I'd love a more modern look! I think less poufy would be better...but I think all veils are poufy aren't they :(  I guess I need to just start trying them on with my dress...

A mantilla veil would have no pouf whatsoever if you would prefer that.

I think the prettiest veils are single layered and very sheer, fingertip length. That way you'll be able to see through it and not mask any of your dress's back detail. You won't really get any poufiness if you place it more to the back of your head rather than the top or crown.

I agree with smyley, single layer fingertip length veils are not poofy at all, especially if worn under your updo or at the back of your head :)

Very pretty dress by the way!

Your dress is beautiful!  I got my veil from HERE!!  I bought it from another bee for $70!!  It was never used, she just changed her mind!  So check out the classifieds on WB.  I have another veil that i made myself, a birdcage made from tutorials on WB as well!  (you can tell, how much I love it here!!)I also agree with checking etsy...so much talent on that site and their prices are reasonable!

Thanks ladies! I also think I like the fingertip length veils...the only thing is I have VERY short hair (like hits my chin), so I'd like to wear it on the back of my head but not sure how it will stay! I feel like I'm going to have to put it more towards the top because of my hair length.
