Yesterday was PERFECT!!! As some of you bees know, we had picked an engagement date together, and it was yesterday (June 8th).
I woke up with the smell of a delicious hot breakfast cooked by my bf (now fiancé hihihi), and then we went on a bike ride (we loooove biking) on a trail I had mentioned I wanted to go back on. On the trail, we found this weird park which is more like a little meadow in the middle of nowhere and for some reason, the city put two really tall greek columns there (they are part of an old library that got demolished downtown years ago) and a fountain (hooked to a water supply and working!) from some rich guy who donated it to this “park” a long time ago. They are also beautiful flowers and trees, and some other fake ruins from that library. Anyway, we took silly pictures, climbing on the sculpted stones, pretending we were statues, it was awesome 🙂
Then we kept going until we got to an aviation museum and we ate some croissants and pastries we had bought. There is a nice picnic area on the museum grounds. Then we went into the gift shop and bought boxers (for him) and a tank top (for me) that says “Remove before flight” lol Soooo silly, but so much fun. We watch some little planes take off and land before going back on the trail.
When we got back home, we rushed a bit to shower and get to a restaurant that we love (he had reservations) and we had the best meal, everything was perfectly delicious!!! Annnnd…. theeeennnnn… we walked to a statue overlooking the whole city, where we could see all the places we love to go and bike and walk, we can even see where we work and live. This statue is also special for us, because that is where we first cuddled and kissed. So he got a little box out of his pocket… and it was chocolates, from a store that has a special meaning for us. 🙂 And we ate that, and then he gave me some sheets with writing on it… he actually had recopied a bunch of text messages we had sent each other the day before we officially got together (he still had them in his phone), and it was this mix of flirting and love poems… sooooo funny!! He gave me a copy of the texts I had sent and he made me read theses while he read what he had replied at the time. It was sooo romantic and hilarious lol
And THEN he said “Do you want another chocolate, or do you want this??” and he had THE little box. By then I had completely forgotten about that, so I gasped in surprise lol We were sitting next to each other at the foot of the statue, overlooking the river and the city, and he ask me in French (my first language) if he could have my hand, and I told him he could have all the rest too hahaha! And then he ask me in English if I would marry him 🙂 And I said “OUI!” And he took my hand and put the ring on my finger!!!!! (I had previously mentioned I didn’t want him on one knee, I prefered this being on the same level idea). We cried a little, and we were sooooo happy! It was magical!!! Knowing ahead didn’t ruin anything, quite the opposite! The weeks leading to it were so exciting, and during the day we were just so happy being together and knowing it was coming 🙂
Truly one of the best days of my life! I really wish that kind of feeling to all the bees!!
