@BayStateBride: Yeah, it says right at the beginning of the first post. :) My hair trial is November 19, but I don't want to sit there for hours having an updo done (I have a ton of hair) only to decide I don't want one. I'm leaning away from an updo, but wanted some other opinions.
@Statutory Grape: *face palm* sorry! im an idiot haha i got so excited I jumped right to the pics!
How well does your hair hold curls? If I remember correctly from your first post, your hair is long and has natural curl. (I also remember how jealous I was of your beautifully thick hair!!) But the 2 "down" hairstyles look like they require bigger, looser curls. Which could work, depending on if your hair can hold big bouncy curls.
Personally, I like the updo a little better. It's a little more formal looking, IMO. So I voted for #1. :)
Hi! I remember your previous posts as well, and agree that an updo might look really great with your hair. Your hair seems to be quite a bit longer than what would be good with the 2nd two hair styles (though they're super pretty and soft). I also love the neck line of the dress and I think that by having your hair down that it would take away from the cut of the dress.
It will be beautiful either way :)
@BayStateBride: My hair naturally has really loose curls, so it holds a curl fairly well. (I'd like to mention, at this time, that I'm really jealous of women whose hair can be straightened and hold that texture all day!) It's a blessing as well as a curse, I think.
@SouthernTulip: That's true about the cut of the dress--my hair has a tendency to swallow everything up. I think if the ends were curled up more, it would take away some of the length, but I don't want it to overwhelm the neckline, especially since I'm wearing a necklace as well. I'm trying to find a happy medium that's not the traditional half-up, half-down style.
@kitzy: A valid concern...but I also want to look like myself, and I wear my hair down 99% of the time so an updo might look odd.
The dress has a retro 1950s feel to me and I don't think either of these styles really go with that feel. I would look for a more structured pulled back retro style. Something like these maybe?

@Meowkers: I really like the first one--do you have a picture of the front?
@Statutory Grape: I don't. It's just from a google image search. It looks like it's from the knot so I would look there. I think she probably has an exagerated side part in the front and then the rest of it pulled back.
Oooo! I really like the 1st one posted by Meowkers also!
Eeeeee, the Knot. I'll Google until I find a front piece I like, then take that and the back picture to the hair stylist and go, "Can you do this?" Haha. I'm such a dork!
I still feel like an updo might be too formal, though...
This is another one I keep coming back to, but it probably wouldn't go well with the dress at all.

I'm now torn between three (okay, essentially two) hairstyles. I'm having my hair trial on November 19, so I have about a month to decide what I want.
Here are the three styles I'm considering. (To recap--I'm doing my own hair and makeup for the ceremony, but am having my hair and makeup done for the reception the next day.) Here's the design my dress is based on:
Here are the hairstyles.
My face is mostly oval, but I have a pointed chin. Most styles are okay, but I'm really leaning toward the Lana Turner ones because they are both so soft and romantic-looking. My hair is also curly, so I'm thinking the first one is going to be either hit or miss...no in-between.
I'm wondering if an updo would be too formal for a casual mid-day reception, too, which is why I'm leaning toward the last two.
