I applaud you for realizing that you need to be responsible with your money at this time. Clearly the people that you've shown your phone to are not mature enough to understand such decision-making.
PS- if you're going to smack them, use your old phone to hit them with so you don't wreck the new one :)

why do they care what phone you have?
I know how you feel! I got a new phone a few months ago before I had a job so I got a basic dial phone because I couldn't afford the extra $30 a month for a smart phone that I barely use. Maybe for my next upgrade I will go back (especially if they bring the iphone to Verizon) but not now.
FI decided that we would get smart phones once we're rolling in the dough. It's over a day until he gets his Ph.D, so we have to wait until. Plus...I'm kind of scared of having a phone with easy access to the internet. It would probably just consume my life, LOL
And I think I will totally smack them with my old phone. It's like a brick, so it would hurt a little bit. :P

I got my new phone in this morning (a Samsung Alias 2), and I love it! I've showed a few people, and all they've come back with something about how lame it looks, it's not an iPhone or a Droid, and what the heck was I thinking to not get one?
STFU people. I didn't get one because in less than a year I'm going to be going off my parents plan and onto my FI's. We'll still be students with a very small limited income, so a phone that costs an extra $30 isn't a good idea. A fancy phone like that is unnecessary and unaffordable. We're trying to be responsible. So, just shut up about my phone, which I happen to like a lot, thank you very much.
