I’m in a sort of similar situation.  Second wedding for me, first for him, but he really wants to go “all out.”  That’s all fine and dandy but who is going to pay for it all?  His mother graciously put up $2,000 to reserve the venue, but we’ve still got the food and alcohol to cover ourselves, plus ALL the other wedding expenses.  Now he’s daydreaming about a honeymoon to Hawaii and I just don’t know how we’re going to do it.

He actually said earlier today, “Man, we should have just taken the kids to Fiji (my dream vacation) and gotten married there – it would’ve been so much cheaper and easier.”  Yep, that’s what I was thinking back when we started planning this whole thing.

At least we both have time (I’m in September also).

Hi, I myself am a bride under stress and a budget.  Cutting costs is a first priority.  Here’s some helpful websites that I’ve used to cut on costs dramatically.  First for flowers, I went with real touch false flowers through afloral.com  I paid approximately $10.00 per bouquet.  I purchased enough for the centerpieces, bridesmaids, boutineers and my bouquet just under $220.00 and some mint julep cups for the centerpieces at about $35 for 12.  For music we found a venue with a built in P.A. system and are just going to have a playlist from our IPod play through the venue speakers to save on D.J.  For food we went to a local mom and pop owned deli and incredibly enough are only paying $5 a head for deep pit, potatoe salad, green salad, roles and mashed potatoes.  Most people go to “Caterers” and fancy restaurants that charge an arm and a leg and never think about local deli’s.  As for cakes you can save tons by going to a local super Walmart bakery, they have 3 tiered cakes for under $150.00.  I’m just getting a basic white cake and decorating with some of the left over flowers on top.  A great place to buy table linens that’s probably cheaper than renting them is linentablecloth.com, great selection and great price.  I bought 12 90″ round satin cloths for $55.00, free shipping on orders over $50. As for my dress I’m an online shopper and went online to David’s Bridal during their $99 sale and purchased a $750 dress for $99.  Hair accessories such as tiaras and feather/flower fascinators are extremely affordable at Icing by Claire’s, I got mine for under $25.00 and 7 black feather fascinators for my bridesmaids under $40 total. I’m truly amazed at how little I’ve spent on my wedding so far.  I hope this helps a little.
