Hmmm....so I was planning on buying all my bridesmaid cute gold flip flops from old navy...not wanting to get the wrong size, I secretively ask all the significant others for the girls' sizes.  And I find out................................................

my FI's sister (who he's not close with but I said should still be in the wedding since our other siblings are) has WEBBED-TOES!!!

Are you kidding me?  Not only do I have no clue what to do now for the shoe situation, I also just learned that both my FI's sister and father have webbed-toes...

Any ideas on non-flipflop thong style options for gold sandels for my bridesmaids (or at least for her)?

I couldn't help but crack up because that is so random! What are the odds?! I just looked it up and from the pictures it looks like you might still be able to give her those sandals cause the webbed part isn't the big toe itself. You might wanna ask the Fi about how she feels about wearing flip flops though, but from the pictures online, it doesn't look weird at all.

LOL I was laughing too! Who would ever think that THAT would be something to consider!? Maybe start with her and ask her what shoes she might be willing to wear.  Then go from there.

You really should make sure she'll be comfortable in whatever you decide. There are lots of T-bar and other non-thong sandels out there. I'm sure you'll figure something out!

Cosmetic surgery?  No...that's just mean.  But really, that is SO randomly weird.  Maybe purses or pashminas?

I would try and find out if she's even comfortable wearing sandals at all. She might not like to show her toes at all if it is embarassing to her. Ballet flats would work and would be cute :)

I have webbed toes and flip flops are not a problem. Most people with webbed toes have the 2nd/3rd toe kind of connected.... not like fish flippers or anything :)

Oh and by the way.... both my mom and I have webbed toes and I can't even tell you the last time I thought about the fact that they were. Years probably. I don't think its something most people are self-conscious about unless there was like, total webbing which is super rare.

thanks ladies! such as random situation.  i just don't want to do anything that may make my future sister-in-law uncomfortable so i'm going to totally look into the ballet slippers like you all are recommending....i am going to look into other possible gifts as well.

i'm also happy to hear that webbed toes aren't such a big deal...i can't believe i've been around my FI's family so much over the past 3+ years and this has never come up

i would definately find out if she owns flip flops... cause it is rare for the big toe and the one next to it to be connected. like someone else said its normally the 2nd and 3rd toes connected. thus flip flops are no problem.

i have webbed toes and rock them out every summer in flip flops!

I thought this post was going to be about a bridesmaid "flip-flopping" over being a part of your wedding!!

(I didn't even think of the term referring to shoes... here in Hawaii they are called nothing other than "slippers." LOL!)

I have webbed toes, and people always comment on how cute my feet are. Then I tell them why they look different lol. My Father has them too.  Tongue out

I'm sorry I laughed, that is not your average bridesmaid problem! Why don't you find out what kind of shoes she normally wears? And find a cute style/colour in that?

whoa! So if your FI a carrier for this gene? ;) I would ask the signifigant other if the sister wears flip flops, if she does you are good to go, if not you could get everyone some ballet flats. I figure you would want everyone to have the same as to not draw attention to the webfeeties

haha I just think its so funny how many people are so surprised by this! I never realized that webbed toes were so rare/such an issue. Seriously-- I'd be shocked if she doesn't wear flip flops or is at ALL self conscious about it. :)

I'm with CorgiTales - I have webbed toes (2nd and 3rd toes), and I'm surprised that it's such a rarity! I wear flip flops almost year round, and I'm in no way self conscious about it. I never realized before now that I'm such a freak ;) Those gold flip flops are cute and well priced - I'd double check with her about whether or not she wears flip flops before changing your plan to ballet flats.

LOL-wtf??  Get everyone gold flip-flops, and gold ballet flats for her.  She might have some 'splainin' to do!  I feel sorry for the poor girl-is there surgery available??  Think of the limited shoe options and the swimming and stuff!

Did anyone laugh when they read this? I am SO sorry. It is not a big deal, just get them cute flats or just outline a style of shoe (not open toe) for everyone and let them purchase them themselves!

on google images there are a lot of people with webbed toes that are still wearing flip flops.  Do you know for sure that the big toe is the one that is webbed?  maybe she can still wear flip flops?

She could wear this kind of flip flops, that doesn't go between the toes.

my FI asked his mom and i guess she said flip-flops should be fine (yet i still don't really understand what her feet look like)...so i ended up just buying the $3 old navy ones...all the other shoes i found were way more expensive and this was just suppose to be a nice gesture in case the girls' feet were sore at the end of the night...

i feel like not all girls may even decide to wear their's, and i just hate the thought of splurging on her since i barely know her (and honestly, my FI is not close to her at all).  i just wish i didn't even know about her feet and could play dumb if it's a problem.  i guess i'm just getting worn out with trying to make everyone happy, especially when i don't have the money so hopefully there won't be any hurt feelings....i mean seriously, they're just flip-flops!
