OK, so, I was taking out my Pronovias Megan gown to take current images to send a prospective buyer from POWD.

After I finished, I went to pick up the Garment Bag to put the dress away. Mind you, I've taken it out a few times for pics or to look at during the drama of making a decision after bringing it home from the store.

Anyways, imagine my surprise when THIS is at the bottom of the bag!

Um, Ya, this is one of those "bridal designer" belts that cost about $400-600.

    Here's what I THINK happened.

I tried it on for my mom and FMIL and FSIL when my mom was in town. I wanted her to get the full effect so, even though I hadn't bought a belt yet (which I did a few weeks later and also have for sale) they gave me this one to wear to give her a better idea.

Well, afterwards, they told me to just leave everything in the room and they'll pack it all back up properly. They do this all the time with every alterations appointment I've had as they now have my Justin Alexander to alter.

Well, I changed my mind as everyone is well aware and I went to the store before any alterations were done to Megan and picked her up. They got it, gave it to me, we took her out and inspected the gown (but not fully 100% out of the bag, it was still on the hanger if that makes sense.)

I think the shop girl (which is silly because SHE is the one who got me the belt) put it in my bag thinking it was mine? I don't know... all I know is I have a phone call to make Monday and I don't know how to start it...

"Um, hi, yes, I found a $400-600 belt of yours in my garment bag and I think it's been there since April... "

    Lol - What a surprise!

Wow that's an awkward conversation...  Good for you for returning it though.

What happens if you happen to "not find it yet" until the day of your wedding and wore it?  Hahaha  Then told them about it - say that you found it in your bag the day of the wedding?

Then again, sometimes karma is a bitch and they may do something nice for you if you return it....

I'd totally keep the belt!  Unfortunately, it was their mistake!  Maybe it's not the most honest thing to do, but it's not like you intentionally stole it.

I'm in favor of returning it. You never know if it came out of someone's paycheck. And actually, I think your phone opening sounds just perfect!

Beautiful belt but I too would return it.

I am a firm believer in karma and like MrsJKH2be said, they may reward you for it. If they don't, then I believe good things will come your way regardless :)

Man! I would probably keep it! Haha!

Well...probably not. I'm usually a pretty honest person. It would really suck if it came out of someone's paycheck.

Yeah, you should return it because karma comes back to bite you!  You would think the shop girl would have missed it.

Good for you for wanting to return it.  Honesty is always the best policy.  Maybe they will give you a deal on alterations as a reward?  Here's to hoping.  :)

Honestly, I don't need it at all, and I have no use for it. Sure, I could sell it, but I'm a believer in good coming to those who do the right thing. Not only that, but as a small business owner, I'd be pissed at an employee "misplacing" something this expensive. I just hope no one lost their job...

    It is gorgeous though ;-0

I'd use it, then return it :-) It was their mistake and they'll get it back, eventually!
