@MsquareM:  I’ve been broke our entire relationship so have to get pretty creative with surprises. For our first valentines I called in a huge favor and had my friend who is a personal chef come to his apartment and cook us a beautiful three course meal with wine pairings. i had chased FI out earlier in the day, cleaned the apartment, decorated and played a ridiculously long playlist of love songs. It was a great night.

@MsquareM:  wow that is so awesome!!! i would LOVE to do something like this for SO. I thought about messaging his boss for a couple days off after xmas and surprise him with a trip to Las Vegas for the holidays BUT then he took off some days for thanksgiving to drive with his family and he doesn’t really have designated vacation time anyways, so he ruined that one lol.

I think my favourite surprise for my husband was giving him 30 gifts, 30 days up to his 30th birthday.

His birthday is on Christmas Eve, so he always feels a bit ripped off.  I really tried to make this birthday extra special, so I gave him the 30 gifts…the first day he was completely surprised and confused.  I had to explain to him what I was doing.  He LOVED knowing he was getting something when he came home from work.  I got him essentials like toiletries, new gym clothes, gift certificates for things he would need, etc.  His actual birthday gift was an ipad mini.  It was fun 🙂

@MsquareM:  Oh my goodness he’s so into watches. He LOVED the Movado (never thought he’d own one) so I’d say it worked out.

Yours is so awesome! XD I am a broke ass college student, so I can’t do anything awesome like that (yet)….But my DH loves space and science (and would totally go through a stargate no questions asked without me :P), so one year for Christmas I told his mom to buy him a telescope. I picked it out and sent her the link, and she shipped it to their house where we were going for Christmas (we alternate years, here on the east coast with my family one year, his parents on the west coast for the other, etc). 😀 They live on a farm so we got to take it out that night and look at the sky with it. IT WAS AWESOME! And totally not something he ever expected.

my surprise for my DH was whilst we were still engaged and he was still living with his parents. He had a few rough days at work, so I got him a six pack of his favourite beer, some of his favourite chocolates, a bunch of flowers and a nice card. I left it on his bed at his parents house without him knowing, he was really surprised and so grateful that the next day I got flowers delivered at work :D.
