How much are you paying for or how much did you pay for your cake?
Do you have a photo of your inspiration or your actual cake?
Ours is going to be $450 plus a $50 delivery, so about $500 total for 200 people. This is our inspiration photo, but our cake will have buttercream rather than fondant.
ours was $300. it's not a traditional wedding cake, it's a croquembouche- a french wedding cake made of cream puffs, and it was sooo yummy! we didn't give them an inspiration, we actually went in asking for cupcakes, but our chef is french so he asked if it would be ok if he made this and we said sure, i'm so glad he mentioned it!
mine is going to be about $650... maybe $700, i forget. for 150 peeps. it's going to be soooo pretty and delicious!! 4 tiers, 2 flavors: "white chocolate raspberry romance" which layers white chocolate whipped cream icing with raspberry jam between layers of white cake, so you get a bright red stripe when you cut into it! and "opera creme torte" which is yummy chocolate cake with a rich creme filling mmmmm! here's the inspiration photo, and the pink part is going to be matched to my 'maids's dresses (coral chiffon from j.crew) and will also have a pearlized sheen brushed on. sooo pretty! the rest will be matte white buttercream with the pin dots.
no cake for zero dollars
but there will indeed be new york cheesecake for dessert

basically the same as this for about 70 people- $ 180 plus tax and shipping = about $250, combined with grooms cake = $320
I made my own cupcakes...it cost $90...here were my inspiration photos
Wowww I feel like I am getting ripped off lol The cake I want for 60 people is going to cost the girl quoted me " 850.00" like whaaaa It's 3 pumpkins stacked on top of each other.... hmm I might hafta find a new cake place
These are all beautiful! Artbee, I especially LOVE your croquembouche. I've never seen one before. BF and I aren't real cake lovers, and just the other day he was suggesting we do pies or cupcakes or a dessert variety plate...I'll have to show him this too!
... wow, I feel like I'm getting ripped off too! Ours will be about 600 for 130 servings. Our baker is french and makes the best damn icing I've ever had IN MY LIFE, though, so it's worth it for that and the pistachio flavor.
Our cake was very expensive, $700 for 100 servings (so everyone was able to have seconds!). My MOH told me that this was pretty average for a high-end cake in the area though, and that her cake had a similar price, so I guess that's just how it is? :-\ It was totally worth it though, because it was the most delicious cake I have ever eaten in my entire life.

It was a vanilla/chocolate marble cake, super soft and moist and yummilicious, and the frosting was I guess buttercream? not fondant, and super sweet and yummy and scrumptious and finger-licking good ^_^
Mmmmmm, wedding cake... *Homer Simpson drool*
I think prices really are dependent on where you live. I live in Ohio and the highest prices I saw from higher-end bakeries were ~$4.50/serving or so. I am paying $3/slice (100 people) for a three tiered cake similar to this. There will be one laker of traditional white cake and two layers of chocolate rush (kind of tastes like chocolate with coffee). There will be alternating raspberry and mocha filling on each tier. It will be frosted in buttercream icing (I don't like fondant).

OUrs was included in the price from our venue...3 different layers/flavors.
$900 for a 3 tier (4th including the styrofoam) specialty cake
$150 cake topper ( I know this is ABSOLUTELY outrageous but it was handmade by an etsy seller and it will be something we use in our home forever as a beautiful decoration)
$300 groomscake
now pictures....yet :)
price is $185 before tax and shipping for 65 slices...(3 smaller tiers)..$250 total, with grooms cake (additional 25 ish), $320 total
$650, feeds 150, 3 flavor tiers.. I loooooove it! Picture this exact cake with purple hydrangea instead of pink :)
We were just quoted $800 for 60 people. But they makes gorgeous, moist cakes with all organic ingredients!
God I would love to make my own cake, but it's just too time-consuming...
$450 for 150 people. the cake is going to be ivory, latte and gold. i am also going to have tiara on top embellished in the same colors (ivory, latte and gold). the flavor is vanilla bean.
I live in Connecticut so they like to charge us the craziest amounts of money for things. I still can't see how for 60 people my cake is going to be 850 or more. It's not even like the flavors are out there or anything.
I am having this cake:

Tiers: 10", 8", 6"
Bottom and top layer: vanilla cake with raspberry cream cheese icing
Middle layer: vanilla cake with vanilla italian custard
Cake with delivery and taxes included $333.25
We just ordered it today.... soooooo excited!
We had a small, 2-tier buttercream cake with design to make our invitation suite as well as a croquembouche for about $550 total.
I think the best way to judge cake prices isn't by cost per serving, but cost per tier (and consider the sizes of the tiers). I selected a baker whose "per serving" cost was more, but I'm getting twice as much cake as the grocery store bakery (or most typical bakeries that use the Wilton serving guide) for less.
came with our package but we had some upgrades so paid about $300 extra
Beautiful cakes ladies!! I just ordered my groom's cake and I'm so excited, so I'm on a cake high right now!
Here's my inspiration but with 3 tiers instead of 4, with fondant for 60 people, we were quoted $375 total.
Ours will be 3 tiers and will cost $1.50 per slice so it will be about $250 I think. This is what our cake will look like but with fall colored flowers on top and maybe some at the bottom.
@champagnewishes - I love that cake! I want one like it but I know if our cake maker would be able to do it. Maybe but she is an old lady that just does cakes out of her house, she is good but I don't want it ending up looking horrible. But it very pretty and different.
Wow, I feel so ripped off now and so happy that I haven't finalized my order yet, I was quoted $300 + $83 tax and gratuity + $100 for set up and cake cutting for 35 people (two teirs)...This is through the caterer at my hotel in Vegas. I'm having my wedding in Vegas to cut costs, but paying $483 for a two teir cake sure isn't cutting costs.
Here's a pic of the inspiration cake, it will be like the top two teirs but with pink sugar flower orchids instead of bows and adding black and white polka dot ribbon like the second picture.
Hello all
We had two cakes, the main cake was for 100 guests and had three tiers of which one was diebetic friendly. The broach and ribbons I supplied. The cake cost $800 cnd including set up and stand. There was an extra charge for the floral cut outs.
The grooms cake was a traditional fruit cake made by my mother inlaw and not served to the guests. The topper was created by Nicole Wong http://www.nicolewong.com/Home.html and cost about $120cnd
*Remember there are usually two serving slices, one is larger and is good if you are serving the cake as the sole dessert. The second serving size is smaller and used if the cake is being served in addition to a dessert. This could influence the size of your finished cake.
we're having a 3 tier cake (6', 10', 14') 2 layers of yellow cake with fresh fruit filling and 1 layer of banana cake with bananas/bavarian cream filling (Fi's choice)... and it will be buttercream (i don't like fondant) we're also geting sheet cakes and our total quote was = $286 :D
attached below is a few of my inspiration pics... haven't decided yet!
(except with yellow flowers)
(with yellow detailing)
and ms.eva terrier's pic up above

It's costing $553 (rough currency conversion since we're paying in euros) and ours will be 3 tiers for 50 people. It will be white with red marble and we'll have flowers from the local florist on it. The cost includes delivery and cake stand.
it's going to be only three tiered though for around 180 people. the price will be about $600-$700

My cake came in our wedding package the venue offered, but we ended up upgrading and it cost us $250 extra. My cake will have red and ivory flowers
hah aha last week i said no cake.....but then now my Mom says we should get a small cake because they are pretty
so now I'm on board! Future Mrs. Martin, I LOVE the cake display that you are showing....up on the glass/plexiglass shelf with the candles below. I'm adding that to my inspiration pics!
Paying $350 for a 3 tier cake for 135 people. All three layers will have special filling, including a layer of cassata cake. No fondant and that includes delivery.
