Halibut!  And a risotto station.  And chocolate covered strawberries.  Sad day, this sounds like what a lot of others out there are actually getting to have.

How about an on-site brick oven to roll out made-to-order fresh fired pizzas for guests? Wow that would be great at our outdoor wedding in July, think of all the fresh toppings right out of the garden you could throw on! Those ovens are pricey though.

I read in a bridal magazine about a couple who had an entire bar just for port. That kind of thing just isn't fair. FI and I love port and drink it down like candy.

Dont say that!!! A LOT of brides/couples/families are on more of a budget now! And anyways, the wedding is not about the food!!! Maybe for your 25 or 50 anniversary you could have a big party and have all the things you wanted at your wedding but couldnt afford at the time!!!

I would have a sushi station, a flambe station (which we actually will be having), we would have all of our favourite ethnic foods in stations and passed (greek, thai, japanese, chinese, indian etc)

I would also have sushi bar...and chocolate covered strawberries (towers and towers of them!), caviar, and more pricey champagne. Oh! And a huge raw bar: all different varities of oysters, shrimp, clams, etc.

@clarebee - True!  Our entree is pretty standard chicken, but after the tasting we had, I know it'll still be delicious.  And I still get giddy everytime I think about or talk about our cake and groom's cake!

@clarebee It's true that a wedding is about a lot more than food, but for my foodie self, my foodie FI, my foodie bridesmaid, and a ton of my foodie guests - it does matter! Great options are available for a budget, of course.

I think we would have kept our dinner entrees the same because it's just a safe bet that people will enjoy chicken, fish, steak or veggies. BUT, we would have done a "comfort food" themed cocktail hour complete with tomato soup shooters with mini grilled cheeses, pizzas, sliders, french fries, etc.

Of course, we would have made everything cute and fancy :)

Oh I totally agree that food does matter! I am a foodie myself and I know the food we will have will be delicious, BUT its not EXACTLY what I would have wanted if I could afford it!

I think I have the opposite problem of most.. I think the food is too fancy! My perfect wedding would be like a great homestyle mexican place. Chips, salsa, and white queso on the tables. Chicken, beef, and shrimp fajitas served family style. Chimichangas, ehnchiladas... mmmmmm... :)

Unfortunately I haven't any place that doesn't want to "fancy up" the food.

Heck yeah fondue!  Since we are Swiss (Or I will be, lol.)  And racclette is cool too, but it stinks!  I'd also Loooove to have a Crepe station :o/  don't think it's gonna happen cuz we are pusing it w/ our budget as it is!  :(  boo.  For midnight snacks I'd love to do mini PBandJ's and milkshake shooters!  Ahh, dreams...

A really good surf and turf.  Our choices were pretty limited on a small Caribbean island!

Grilled Caribbean lobster.  No offense to the Maine ones, but the ones in the warm water are a whole lot yummier!

Lobster would rock but honestly?  I LOVE Mac & cheese and meatloaf!  Gourmet versions would be AMAZING to me, to have served at my wedding!

I forgot the proper name for it but I would get fried catfish covered with crawfish ettoufe.

Or shrimp stuffed with crabmeat wrapped in bacon (I just had it at Saltgrass and loved it).

Prime Rib with yorkshire pudding, creamed spinach, horseradish sauce and au jus Mmmm

And anything french, like duck cassoulet or steak frite with bordelaise and bearnaise sauces MMMmmm

I should probably be a winter bride since everything I adore is like hibernation stick-to-yer-ribs food, hahaha

We're actually going to have my dream food. We're doing a surf and turf: clams, mussels, shrimp, steak and maybe chicken.

I'd love to have a sushi station, though.

I would hire the chef we took cooking classes from in Tuscany (Bruno) and have him cook for our wedding. Whatever he wanted to make would be fine because it would all be traditional Tuscan fare. Yum!

I would want an entire wedding cake made of cheese! Each tier would be a different kind. This would make me very happy but my guests probably prefer real cake!

I would go all out on a hors d'oeuvres and open bar reception. Tons of elegant small portions of our favorite foods - mac & cheese, meatloaf, grilled cheese, pot stickers, steamed dumplings, shish-ka-bobs, shrimp cocktail, tempura, stuffed mushrooms, mmmmm... And a premium bar to wash it all down with. ~bliss~
