I been looking and shopping for my bridesmaid dresses and been really liking the slim new styles at davids bridal , however, will they look okay with my dress? Is there a rule for picking bridesmaids dresses besides the fabric material?
I have picked this dress for my bridesmaids and its satin in wisteria (purple). The dress has bow detail on the shoulder , and my dress has a big bow on the back..thought that was something unique.
and this is my dress:
What you guys think? Show me your dress and your bridesmaid dresses and why you picked them?

I think your gown is very pretty, and I like the bridesmais dresses, but if it were me, I would go with a longer bridesmade dress with more of an A-line look.
We are having a Victorian wedding, so I picked my gown and my girls dresses based on that.

@noritake22: Beautiful dresses and your gown is gorgeous. My bridesmaids would never wear a long dress haha, so had to let them pick something from the short dresses selection. I also think short for Sept would be better , might be warm still.

The bridesmaid’s dress that I chose had two BIG things going for it: it was affordable, and looks great on everyone.
My wedding dress is large and elaborate and lacy and I love it. Do the two go together? I’m not really sure. But I like them both, and I suppose that’s what matters.

Hmm I wasn’t really concerned whether the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses went with my dress. I just wanted them to be venue and formality appropriate and be a style I and the bridesmaids like. In the end, both my dress and the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses do have dropped waists and are both very flowy and light material, (mine is tulle, theirs is chiffon).
I think the dresses you chose go perfectly with your dress! both have a very crisp and clean feel to them.

My maid of honor’s:
And my bridesmaids’:
I didn’t really consider whether they matched me — just what I liked stylistically and what they felt comfortable and beautiful in.

@Ka393: I think those complement each other perfectly! Something about the color and the cut really works.

I like the bridesmaid dress you picked. I think it goes very nicely with your wedding dress. Btw, where did you get your wedding dress from? My sister is asking.

I picked the Bridesmaid or Best Man and Maid/Matron of Honor dresses based off of two things: the color I wanted for the wedding (burnt orange) and what looked best on my girls so that they would be happy. Fortunately, the style compliments my dress well I feel – the neckline, with the rouching, and the fact that both are corsette back. I think your combination is also great! A few things in common such as the bow you mentioned will help to keep your theme.

I tried to coordinate mine just a bit. With the exception of my Maid/Matron of Honor (who I basically let pick whatever light blue dress she wanted), we all have ruched sashes across our dresses–all from David’s Bridal. I think they will look very nice together.

Here are the girls:
The Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are convertible, so they will be worn many different ways with pink shoes!
