Hi bees – I’m starting to think my work wardrobe needs an overhaul, but I’m a bit of a non-shopper and don’t really know where to go to get nice workclothes.
I manage with what I have (which isn’t very versitile), but I don’t think these clothes are really fit for where I want to go with my career. They just work for now – know what I mean?
I am sure some of you shop more than I do (most people do, haha), so I was thinking it might be good to ask this on the bee and get a few diverse opinions.
What’s your favorite place to shop for work clothes?
What is it about that store that makes it so great? (quality, price, selection, etc?)

I buy all of my work clothes, and 90% of my casual clothes at Maurices. I think they make good quality clothes and the people who work there are amazing. They will help you find whatever it is you are looking for. They are a little pricey, but I would rather spend money on clothes that I know are going to last.

I’ll second New York & Co. They have awesome sales and send out fantastic coupons, so you can get a lot for your money if you time it right. They also have petite and tall sizes for pants (I need the tall sizes), which can be really difficult to find in other places.

I tend to shop at Ann Taylor and Banana Republic for work.

Maurices, Dress Barn, and I know I’m going to sound like a little old lady here but, Christopher and Banks (seriously! My favorite pair of black pants is from there!) Price and quality are huge for me and I’ve never had any issues with any of these places.

I love J. Crew for work clothes. Their stuff just fits me really well.

I’ll third NY&Co…I love their pants and usually you can catch a good sale or coupon! They are good quality and wash well.
I’ll second Maurice’s…love their stuff!!
For tops, I usually just buy from wherever…I’m definitely more picky about pants. (I need “tall” lengths)
I also like Ross and TJ Maxx.
I work in a lab but I have to wear dress clothes. The stuff I work with will ruin clothes over time, so now I check out the local thrift stores to find nice pants. I once found a J.Crew pair of dress pants, new, with original tags for like $4. Score! lol

Limited, The Loft, Anne Taylor, New York and Company, JCrew, and Anthropologie. New York and Co has hands down the best selection of petite trousers. Limted, Loft, and Anne Taylor have good career dresses. Anthropologie and JCrew are for my dressy-casual days.
I sometimes shop at Gap, but it’s hit or miss.

Because of the way I’m built, I usually end up getting juniors stuff from Kohl’s. However, love Target, Loft, Banana Republic, Express, and Old Navy for pieces here and there.

Almost exclusively J. Crew these days.

I buy all my work clotes from The Limited. Prices are reasonable and they always have great stuff on clearance. Plus they send out coupons often and are always having a sale.

I’m a GAP/Banana Republic lova!

J. Crew! I love their quality, and all the colors. They also have a lot of “tall” sizing – important since I am 6’1″! I don’t wear suits – just nice separates, so their selection of sweaters, tops, and pencil skirts is really wonderful.

Kohls, The Limited, Express, and New York and Co.
