I absolutely love MAC Pro Longwear foundation. I’m extremely pale and the NC15 matches my skin perfectly.

I only wear it for special occasions because it’s too much coverage for me for every day (I just use a tinted moisturizer most of the time), but it’s an awesome product.

@Creiddylad: I have discovered that Smashbox and Stila are worth every penny. I have the Smashbox BB cream and I love it, the Stila corrector is magic…

I’ve also heard wonderful things about the Benefit concealer.

ETA: all 3 of those brands are available at a drug store here that recently started a ‘beauty boutique’ – you can get them at Sephora as well (but I see you don’t have one of those)

@Creiddylad: Macy’s does carry MAC, and actually Sephora doesn’t, so you’re good! Nordstrom also has it. They’ll be happy to do an application for you at the counter if you want to test it out. And while it is pricey, it’s not insane, I believe it’s around $30.

@Creiddylad: Shoppers Drug Mart here carries them – that’s where I buy all my makeup. Smashbox also does sample ktis that aren’t terribly expensive and get you small versions of their most popular products to try out. That’s how I started.

I really like Clinique Even Better Foundation. It goes on easily and stays most of the day. For concealer, I use cle de peau, which is a real splurge, but one tube has lasted me over two years.

Since you don’t have Sephora, do you have Ulta nearby? They generally have a good selection of products that you can test instore to get a good match.

I second the recommendation for Smashbox BB cream and Benefit concealer. I am pale with yellow undertones. In Smashbox I buy the fair/light shade and in Benefit concealer I buy the light shade.

For CVS brands, I’ve heard great things about the Revlon ColorStay line of foundations. Have you tried any of them?

@Creiddylad: I currently use revlon colorstay whipped foundation for long lasting coverage. Before that I was using Elizabeth Arden Sponge on foundation which didnt match me as well. I do think the EA is a better formula. For concealer I use Lancome but really want to switch to Nars but cant pull the trigger. Do you have an ulta near you? A lot brands from Sephora are available there and mostly all the rest you can find at a department store. A good translucent powder will work well to set everything.

I absolutely love Tarte’s Amazonian clay powder foundation. I have uneven skin tone (acne scars from adolescence) and this powder is lightweight and easy to apply but stays on all day and makes my skin look a zillion times better.

You must use the right brush to apply it though! Otherwise it won’t stick.
