Not counting your own, what has been a fun, unique element that you have enjoyed from other weddings?

We wanted a cappuccino bar for our wedding, but the logistics and cost are sort of out of control. BUT at a wedding we were at last weekend, they had a specialty coffee bar. So basically it was a waiter with a few carafes of coffee, tall glass stemmed cups rimmed with sugar, and a choice of Kahlua, Bailey's etc to go in it. Far less infrastructure and it was an awesome addition to the party! Everyone seemed to really enjoy it! I'm totally stealing their idea for our wedding ;)

They also had a late night sweet and savory buffet that included ice cream sandwiches on fresh baked cookies. That was delicious!

some of my favorite things from past weddings include:

    live band

    dessert and fruit buffet

the bride and groom dancing a lot, (encourages everyone to dance)

    not overly serious ceremony

cocktail hour before the ceremony and reception following immediately after the ceremony.

One wedding I went to hired a violinist to play throughout the ceremony...it was beautiful and something I would steal if I had the money.

My sister had a harpist at her ceremony and cocktail hour. It was very romantic and definitely put people in the "love" mood.

A friend had a bag pipe player lead the ceremony exit (complete with kilt and furry pouch).

I'm a foodie so anything unique with food is good for me. One of my other friends had a two-hour cocktail hour which included various food stations that circled the globe. She had a sushi bar, a pasta bar, a taco bar, Asian noodle bar, seafood bar including shucked oysters, Meat carving station and passed appetizers that included various Spanish tapas, sambosas, spanikopta, dimsum, etc. It was great and I was so full that I could barely eat my dinner.
