Who else loves Trader Joe's? I LOVE their dark chocolate sea salt caramels....yummy! Their mac and cheese is delicious too. And they have an amazing chicken curry fresh salad there. Who else?
Their truffles! Cant remember the name exactly but its a little brown box with like gold on it.
I have only been a few times, but we served some of their two buck chuck at our wedding, and it was SUPER popular. I am a snooty wine drinker, but their white zin is really good!
I got some sparkling wine there that was amazing- it was really sweet. I actually served it at my wedding coincidentally. The marinated frozen fish is really good too.
NOT the sushi.
I just went today, but all i bought was 3 flats of cat food. My cat is one spoiled kitty!
I really like their frozen marinated fish. Makes for a really easy defrost and cook meal.
Ohh I miss TJ's. I live in Utah now and there aren't any here! :( I used to always get their thai chicken sandwich wrap for lunch.. mmmm.
dark chocolate covered pretzel thins. MMMM. and everything pretzel thins. and their hummus is so good, too. fish is always fresh! frozen edamame and frozen rice are awesome and more affordable than anywhere else. sea salt and pepper chips (chip crackers? not sure what they are called but they're in a blue bag) :)
everytime i go to TJs i remember how much i love it! i wish it was more convenient to get to for me.
I'm about to head over there to find something fun to make for dinner tonight!
Here are a few things that are always on my shopping list:
TJ's Chicken Sausage, especially Sweet Apple, Mango, Spicy Italian
Israeli Cous Cous
Fresh Pomegranate Seeds
Chocolate Covered Pomegranate Seeds
Dark Chocolate Clouds
Roasted Red Pepper Soup
Frozen Lemon Bars
Vanilla/Banana Lowfat Yogurt
Cherry Preserves (to put on English muffins)
And OF COURSE the wine section! I'm getting all the wine and champagne for the wedding at Trader Joe's. :)
There's a Trader Joes only 2 blocks from me. Only problem is since it's in NYC and in the ground floor of an NYU dorm it is ALWAYS packed. Both lines (regular and 15 items or less) always wrap around all the way to the front door.
You ladies are giving me great ideas for my shopping list tomorrow!
@margsie: What are chocolate clouds?
@margsie: Go for it girl! We served 4 different kinds and only spent like $150. LOL. It was really, really popular!
Your entire list makes me wish Trader Joe's was closer than 2 hours away :-(
love Trader Joes - list of things I get every time. Cabernet Pot Roast(good price per pound), all their frozen vegatables(balsamic roasted veggies, grilled eggplant, french country mix etc) for easy weeknight sides, rosemary and raisin crackers, egg white salad, sea salt brownies, I second the marinated fish - ahi tuna, cod is great for making fish and chips, red pepper spread, chicken sausage - I could go on and on!
Uh, everything?!
I like their wines, their chocolates, the freeze dried fruits, the sparkling Frenchberry lemonade, the yogurt coated cookies... omg must go to Trader Joe's now...
I've actually never shopped there, but my photographer told me to buy two buck chucks (wine) from there for my wedding :)
@KatNYC2011: There's now one on 72nd and Broadway that's not anywhere near as crownded as the U.S. one!
My faves:
Jo-Jo's
Turkey Meatballs
Orangina (they sell 4-packs of the small bottles!)
Caramel Wafer Cookies (Dutch, I think?)
Frozen Chicken/Steak Burritos!
I always stock up on pantry items there too, like butter, flour, seltzer, pasta, tomatoe sauce...
Haha, clearly I go quite often!
LOVE: chocolate croissants, chicken tikka masala, ciabaitta bread for pizza, blueberry oatmeal,
@trailmix: Yeah... but then I'd have to go to 72nd and Broadway and take a cab, rather than walk two blocks. There is something to be said for convenience.
they have this amaaaazing pasta--lemon pepper pappardelle--yum!!
also love their frozen roasted corn.
i could post on this topic ALL.DAY.LONG.
items i MUST have on a weekly basis for survival:
all these items are the trader joe's brand:
-salt-free organic marinara sauce
-"granola and the three berries" granola bits
-shredded mozzarella
-greek yogurt (honey, pomagranate, blueberry)
-fire-roasted tomato salsa
-olive oil organic popcorn
-organic sour cream
-whole wheat pizza dough
-sprouted flourless whole wheat berry bread
mmmm, i love TJ's!
Oh my gosh, I am OBSESSED with their sourdough bread.
Their frozen brown rice is UNBELIEVABLE. I eat so much of it that I should probably buy shares of stock. One box has three pouches inside, and all it takes is 3 min in the microwave. It goes with EVERYTHING :)
- Chicken Vegetable Barley soup. Delicious and filling and comes in a great microwaveable bowl
- Shredded parmesean cheese (in the giant bag... lasts forever!)
- Two buck chuck, duh
- Roasted Almonds
- Bunches of flowers! So inexpensive and gorgeous.
- Mini oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Could eat a zillion.
- Frozen risotto (asparagus is really good)
- Frozen clams, scallops, shrimp, langostino tails. All are delicious and well priced.
mmmmmm... I LOVE TJs!!
turkey meatballs (we go through tons of these)
corn flakes
grilled chicken
peppermint jojo cheesecake (christmas time)
baked cheese puffs
Please stop posting here! I am 2 hours away from a TJ's! :-( Unless someone wants to mail me goodies! ;-)
I would starve to death without a Trader Joes within walking distance. We do 75% of our shopping there!
All butter shortbread cookies, frozen breaded chicken, frozen beef and broccoli, stir fry mixes, all their freeze dried fruits (soooo good on cereal), raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing, fresh low fat all natural parmesan ranch salad dressing, all their amazing and cheap organic produce, their full fat and reduced fat mac and cheese, pretty much all of their appitizers...
Sigh.
I could go on, but I won't!
I got hooked on TJ when I lived in Los Angeles. They were so close I could walk if I wanted to, but since I was in LA I drove the three blocks. Anywho I was stoked when one finally opened in the neighborhood...and by neighborhood I mean 15 miles away. So now once a month I travel the 15 miels and stock up on two buck chuck, their maple brown sugar oatmeal, tom tom soup, olympia pizza and mint chocolate mini ice cream sandwiches. I also love their bouquet of flowers.
This is going to be hard!
I'm sure there's a lot more but I can't think right now!
I'm absolutely in love with their Chinese frozen meals. They are great for when you don't want to cook a big meal. Also their Organic Banana Chips. Mmmmmmm. I will be so sad when I move back to Iowa and the nearest one is 2 1/2 hours away instead of 20 min.
-pot stickers
-carnitas
-frozen brown rice
-dark chocolate covered pretzel things
-mini pb cups
-fruits/veggies
-rustic italian dressing
I <3 TJ's!!
Ohh - their party size meatballs are PERFECT. You put them in the oven for a half hour and incorporate them into the sauce and it's amazing.
We don't go to TJ's anymore, mainly because we get fuel perks for shopping at our local Giant Eagle (plus it's way way close), but I always loved their pineapple salsa.
A *few* of the items i love....dark chocolate pretzel slims, greek 0% yogurt, and soy cream ice cream sandwiches.
LAMBRUSCO! I like me some fine wine, but Lambrusco still does it for me hehe.
TJ's taquitos are a busy work night staple in the teenyB household.
SO swears by TJ's oatmeal and ginger bar soap.
The list goes on: frozen mango, the sweet red peppers (the kinda long skinnyish ones that come 2 in a pack are delicious!!!), the oatmeal/cranberry/white cholocate drizzled dunker cookies, frozen blueberries, the non-sulfured dried cherries are a staple in my homemade trail mix, flour tortillas, roasted red pepper hummus, fresh pizza dough, and the frozen mahi mahi. I also use the three buck Chuck to cook (it seems like everyplace else it's still two buck Chuck...I'm jealous!!!). TJ's also carries the Kennebunkport blueberry beer (seasonal) which is about the only beer I will drink.
I think I just posted my grocery list haha...I know where I'm going tomorrow.
Chocolate clouds like turtles... pecans, caramel, and dark chocolate. Somehow it's the perfect ratio of nuts to caramel to dark chocolate. My TJ's does not stock them year round, it's always a pleasant surprise when they're in stock. If yours has them, get them! They're amaaaazing.
I just went and couldn't find the curry chicken salad you recommended at mine, but I bought some other chicken salad that looks pretty great! And I ended up making curry chicken tenders and rice for dinner, so you inspired that. Thanks for starting this thread!
I love trader joes! I always like to get (but don't always do)
- mochi balls strawberry and green tea
- kettle corn
-bing cherries
- almond butter
