TIE! I like the look of a tie vs a bow-tie and FH thinks that bow-ties make him look like a clown/waiter. Also i can't help but imagine a giant penguin . . . . . also. . i would say go with what YOU and your FH like . . .never mind FMIL
We are definitely going with ties. The guys will be wearing paisley. It was never really an issue though, my FH wears ties every week, and he has always thought bow-ties were funny looking.
Yeah, I happy to think bow ties are kinda funny looking. Ties on a man though...mmmmmm....
Bow ties are difficult to tie. Be sure there are several people around who have learned how to tie one just in case they come undone.
Also - and I don't say this to be snarky, merely as a statement of fact - I was recently at a reception where the waiters/bartenders were wearing black bow ties, white pleated-front shirts, and black tuxedo pants, and they exactly matched the groomsmen who were wandering around sans jackets. I don't think anybody cared, but it's just something to consider.
All of that being said, bow ties can look very debonaire and James Bond. ;)
My guys (including the groom) are wearing regular ties and the ringbearer (one of my twins-my 5 year old son) will be wearing a matching bow tie. The guys are not wearing tuxes though-for our 11 am Saturday morning wedding, they are wearing khaki pants and navy jackets with white shirts.
We havent decided yet. My FI wants to wear a bow tie, but the vests we picked for the GM are too low to look good with a bow tie so they would have to be in a tie. I personally want everyone to wear a tie and I think thats what my FI will decide because he wants everyone to look the same (but his vest will be ivory) but I know he really wants a bow tie.

My Mr. went to get a tux today, and when it came down to choosing the tie/bow tie, we had no idea which one to pick! Personally, I prefer the look of a white tie/white vest combo, however his mom was pretty adamant about the bow tie with a tux.
What are your grooms wearing on your wedding day?
