wow thanks ember! I would love to have a slight bump for height in the front and up maybe curls in the back..anyone have any pics or favorite links?
I absolutely love this one (the bangs and flair part). It perfectly fits our casual outdoor autumn morning ceremony! Although I prefer the popstar's full hair, I know my hair can't achieve that texture without extensions. (For the life of me, I can't remember her name except for Pooky since it was on a Facebook app with nicknames.)

Basically, I just thought of the way I wanted to look. For example, I knew I wanted to wear a birdcage veil and have a vintage look, so I decided on a 1940s curl.
I would DEF recommend doing a hair trial, I thought I wanted a very classic 1940s curl, but it did not work on me, I ended up with a more relaxed look, but still with the classic swirls. Here is a pic after my trial and a pic from the wedding (this one is a little far away, but you can get the idea of the look/feel I wanted to achieve with my hair :)

I have almost shoulder length thick hair, and I did it myself for my bridal portraits two weeks ago. It turned out looking AMAZING, but it didn't stay very well. I think it's because I didn't plan well and had like 4 bobby pins and a travel size hair spray. I'm going to do a few more trials though. I teased it at the crown and did a small side-part in the front. Then I used bobby pins to pin "up" the teased part where my cathedral veil attached. I had a fascinator with pearls & rhinestones there too. It looked really simple and elegant. As soon as my photographer sends me the CD, I'll post pics.
I did a lot of searches for bridal hair and celebrity hair. In the end I gave my hairdresser one photo (the second one), asked for more in my face and she got it really close (the first one).
I just wanted a low loose bun that looked natural and a little messy. The first 3 pictures are what I gave her for inspiration and the last one is what I got. I loved it.
@AnnieAAA: you looked gorgeous on your wedding, your smile is infectous!!!

I think I just did a google image search to find hair ideas.
In addition to this I would HIGHLY recommend having at least one hair trial (ideally 2). Up until 2 days before my wedding I thought I was going to wear my hair half up and half down. After trying out my hair with my dress, I decided that my hair down was "too much" with my v-neck gown. So I had another hair trial and got it just perfect!
Here is the picture I plan on showing my hair dresser, maybe its a little bit like what youre looking for?
