Lol what a weird thing to say, but I think that's a compliment!
Haha I would just take it as a compliment. I have really shiny hair too, it always gets "oohed" and "ahhed" over when I go to a new hair salon.
ETA: When I got my hair done up for my cousin's wedding the hair stylist told me she wasn't going to put any shine spray in my hair for fear of blinding the guests lol
I hear ya 100%. I also have very shiny hair. I think different people just have different ideas of what compliments are LOL. I admit I have never had someone say that my hair looks like a wig, but I imagine you would only be told that out of jealousy. One of my close friends admitted to being envious of my hair, but in the past (before owning up to it!) she would say that i looked like i had extensions because "there's just no way that my hair could be that full, shiny, etc without some help"
I used to have to constantly answer questions from this girl whose mom is friends with my mom, about my hair...She came up to me back in HS one day and said very snottily "My mom said you have CURLY hair, so how do you get it so straight?!" Now, I was never friends with this girl. I also happen to have naturally stick straight, shiny, thick hair. I told her.."I have straight hair, it's from my dad's side of the family. Any more questions?" UGHHHhh people!
Just smile & say thanks.
I have kinky, curly, coily hair & get lots of strange questions. Sometimes, I just make up fake answers, but it depends on the person & how they ask. To me, there's a genuine difference between rudeness & curiosity, so I try not to forget that, but the best thing I think is to just take it as a compliment...even if it wasn't meant that way :)
Absolutely a compliment. I knew someone with hair like that, it looked like glass I was so jealous. I think they just mean people usually have to have fake hair or something artificial done to their hair to get the look that you have naturally, not saying you look like you have a $20 wig on haha.
I have what people deem as amazing hair and I have definitely recieved my fair share of "is it fake?" comments. I just grab it and say nope, all mine!
I would just take it as a compliment, apparently our hair is almost too good to be true. :)
Haha that's quite the compliment.... I think. =)
take it as a compliment, with a dash of pity for a person who can't just be nice but has to add some snarkiness to it.
That reminds me of that Sex and the City episode where Charlotte asks Carrie, "Do you think my hair is too shiny today?" Haha. It's a GOOD thing to have shiny, healthy hair! Take it as a compliment!
It is definately a compliment.... Even if the 'complimentor' didnt necessarily mean it that way ;-)

I have been told this before but this is like the 4th time someone has said that to me in the past month. I dunno if I should be insulted or take it as a compliment!
I dont do anything special to it; I just naturally have really shiny hair I suppose lol.
